NATIONAL BESTSELLER

"It will break your heart and nourish your soul. . . . Her finest novel yet." —Nigella Lawson

From internationally bestselling author Marian Keyes comes the eagerly awaited sequel to Rachel's Holiday. Prepare to laugh and cry by turns with Rachel and the Walsh family.

Back in the long ago nineties, Rachel Walsh was a mess.

But a spell in rehab transformed everything. Life became very good, very quickly. These days, Rachel has love, family, a great job as an addiction counsellor, she even gardens. Her only bad habit is a fondness for expensive sneakers.

But with the sudden reappearance of a man she'd once loved, her life wobbles.

She'd thought she was settled. Fixed forever. Is she about to discover that no matter what our age, everything can change?

Is it time to think again, Rachel?

Critic reviews

"A witty and warm-hearted sequel. ... Effortlessly segueing from tragedy to comedy. ... A novel replete with beautifully well-rounded secondary characters. ... Again, Rachel has all of Keyes's trademark wit, humour and whip-smart dialogue, but it's also a novel teeming with compassion and redemption."—The Observer

"Simply superb. ... [Keyes] is hands down the funniest writer in the business."—The Irish Times

"Keyes delivers punchy home truths with wit and charm. ... Keyes's beady-eyed observations and sparky, sweary dialogue ... lighten another agonisingly painful story. There is a real genius to the way Keyes brings deep, awful truths to the surface. The plotting is more skillfully turned than in Rachel's Holiday, and Keyes's ability to keep the balance between realism and fantasy works like a kind of fairy charm. ... Keyes has mastered the art of writing books that read like treats, but turn out to be good for you."—The Telegraph

Trigger warning: late-term pregnancy loss

I have some friends who have gone through late-term pregnancy loss, so while I hate to disclose anything too early for readers, I also feel like people who’ve been affected might need the heads up.

That said, this book - and the prequel, Rachel’s Holiday, are two of the best books I’ve ever written. Keyes is clearly perceptive, clever, and so very funny (the first was funnier and more light - this one was heavier but beautifully heartbreaking and hope-giving). I’m truly sad they’re over - I feel like Rachel has become a friend.

Thank you for these books, Marian Keyes. I will be relistening to them down the road.

Breathtakingly beautiful

Typically when I read a story I have an idea how I want it to end. This time I found myself identifying completely with the mixed up feelings of Rachel. I had no idea how I really wanted it to end, until I did. Until she did. And I ached for that ending just the same. Beautifully and sensitively written!

Magnificent rating!

I love the whole Walsh family but Rachel is - me. Thank you for a wonderful if gut-punching follow up to her life.

As a long time fan of Marian Keyes, I was thrilled to see she had a new book published. I counted down the days until it became available. I was not disappointed. I laughed and I cried and what was equally important in my mind, is how thought provoking Keyes’ message is. Our lives are not black and white and we need to try to be at peace with our decisions and experiences. I fully recommend this book and if someone happens to read this and has never read any of her other books, I strongly recommend you do. Enjoy.

You were amazing, the characters were superb and easy to follow. As an ex pat abroad, I loved listening to you bring each personality to life - obviously the story was perfection & like meeting up with old friends, a complete triumph all round - Bravo x

Thank you for narrating, Marian !!

Marian Keyes does it again. I love Rachel and her crazy family. The descriptions of addiction and recovery are on point and I was right there with each character.

Just loved it. Didn’t want it to end. The Walsh family is my absolute favorite. Warm, funny and heavy all at once.

The nostalgia!

This whole series was so strong and captivating I hated for it to end. Marian Keyes does a wonderful job portraying people as complex and strong and struggling and sad and hopeful, and it is what draws you in.
The author was a good narrator but I did wish the original narrator of Rachel story was narrating this book also. It did take me a while to get used to Keyes narration.
Love this series!

A fitting end to this series

I read Rachel's Holiday years ago and LOVED IT. The sequel made me cry at times and also bored me and made me skip ahead at other times. Overall it was a great re-visit with Luke and Rachel. I love Keyes' insight into addiction and didn't mind the parts about the Cloisters residents. I think this is a story many many people could relate to. Marian Keyes is funny and witty and the Walsh family is so fun to read about. I highly recommend you read Rachel's Holiday before you read this one. It's one of her best!.

Lovely story
