Publisher's summary

‘Gripping...I couldn’t put it down!’—bestselling author Katie Fforde

In this captivating story from the bestselling author of Picking up the Pieces, Daisy has always envied the perfect family next door. But will a weekend of unexpected drama prove that the grass isn’t always greener?

Daisy Harrop has always felt like she exists in the background, and since her mother stopped getting out of bed, her life has come to a complete standstill. Daisy would give anything to leave the shabbiest house on the street and be more like the golden Kelleways next door, with their perfectly raked driveway and flourishing rose garden…

Winnie Kelleway is proud of the beautiful family she’s built. They’ve had their ups and downs—hasn’t everyone? But this weekend, celebrating her golden wedding anniversary is truly proof of their happiness, a joyful gathering for all the neighbours to see.

But as the festivities get underway, are the cracks in the ‘perfect’ Kelleway life beginning to show? As one bombshell revelation leads to another and events start to spiral out of control, Daisy and Winnie are about to discover that things aren’t always what they seem.

FYI British novel/ British narrator

I fell asleep listening to this book and that never happens to me, a total yawn fest.

2 stars

All Good Things by Amanda Prowse is to be full of family and relationship drama, my favorite! While there are only so many secrets that can be in a book, I enjoy the unraveling of them and how relationships change and move forward. What I'm not a fan of are coming of age stories. I'll be 40 in September and have nothing in common with 16–18-year-olds. I almost stopped reading during chapter 1 but found reviews that note all characters get a voice, so I carried on. The juxtaposition of two people having the same interaction but walking away with very different experiences is intriguing. However, by the end, I wish I had listened to my instincts and stopped reading. For all the drama promised, there is barely any. No one grows other than saying they're done with a thing/person; however, because this book takes place in less than 24 hours, we're never given the chance to see this.

An author narrating their book usually has the additional inflection of the author's intentions behind their writing. However, there are too many characters. It is begging for a more experienced narrator with more range to bring this book to life.

Overall, the only reason I'm rating this 2 stars is because I was able to finish it. I will not be giving Amanda another chance.

What actually just happened?

It felt like the story needed focus. But I guess the focus was the families all have issues. Not sure this one was for me.

Absolutely depressing

If you enjoy reading books where no one has any morals and if you are woke you’re rewarded, then this is for you. I feel a little bad being so brutally honest, but this book is about how everyone is a liar. As you can imagine, not super uplifting and not a great outlook on life.

🥱 Yawn……

It was a snooze fest…
It was touted to be a
“Suspense”… they only facet of said suspense was the interminable wait for the end
