Publisher's summary

Murder. Mayhem. Millennials. What was supposed to be a night of hope and change unwittingly launches an adventure into chaos as five friends uncover a dark past, a secret society, and a sinister plan.

Leo, Joy, Shane, Clementine, and Nick have known each other since high school, but life has taken each of them in vastly different directions. Our story begins as they all gather together to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

In Nathan Monk's latest novel, he weaves together a story that spans decades set against the backdrop of friendships built around a neighborhood bar. Using his powerful storytelling and immersive characters, he transports us through the troubles of the millennial dilemma. The All Saints Hotel and Cocktail Lounge is a stunning story of collective trauma. The audiobook travels through time looking at major events from 9/11 and the Columbine Massacre to the technology boom through the lens of an unsuspecting cast of characters who are simply attempting to survive a world that doesn’t seem built for them.

This Southern Gothic tale confronts some of the darkest parts of our modern history and takes the listener on a journey through the perils of the Great Recession, the Occupation of Wall Street, and right up the edge of a global pandemic that will transform the world as we know it. Who will survive the unprecedented events that unfold? Not even student debt is as perilous as the adventure you are about to embark on. No amount of cutting back on avocado toast and caramel lattes can save you from the dangers ahead.

In his unique style, Nathan creates characters that are at times hard to like but impossible not to love. This tale is full of betrayal, romance, and kitchen grease as this ragtag group of friends attempt to make the world a better place and are confronted with the question, “Do we even have the power to make any meaningful change at all and if not, is there even hope?”

Pull up a barstool, light ’em if you got ’em, and pour yourself a tall glass of suspense and romance masquerading as casual sex as you journey into the seedy halls of the All Saints Hotel and Cocktail Lounge.

LOVED IT SO F-ING MUCH

A gorgeously heartbreaking tale of loves, losses and revelations. I absolutely adore Father Nathan Monk's reading of this beautiful book, as if we were sitting at the big round table with a couple of drinks and he was telling me a story. Going now, to listen to it again.

An Authentic Triumph Over Difficulties

Very proud of what Father Nathan Monk has done by not only writing this book, but going ahead to create meaningful representation of a highly misrepresented community and setting an example of hope for all in the community he represented who are usually told “you can’t”!

How A Dream Wrecked Me

I loved this book. The author's voice was so true and even though I'm Gen X, it resonated with my feelings about the world we are living in. The dream sequence was so short, but it meant so much me. Thank you for not listening to the people who told you that you were less than.

Bukowski reincarnated as a Leo

Yes, Bukowski was a poet, Leo is not. The angst, joy and rapture of the 90s and beyond that Leo navigates us through is wonderful and heart wrenching. Nathan is masterful at character development with all genders. A powerful work that pulls at your heart strings leaving you crying in one chapter and will leave you cheering in the next chapter.

I highly recommend this book. I look forward to hearing Nathan’s latest book and hope He reads it.
Enjoy!!

The whole book is incredible. I loved that he narrated his own book. It really brings you closer to the story. One of my favorite book I’ve ever read.

So I was born in 86

this is the breath of fresh air I've been waiting on. I swear he picked my brain and journal. So so relatable. Must read for anyone growing up in the 90s and early 2000s.

Excellent listen.

Listening to this reading is like curling up to an old friend retelling their favorite stories about their life and their follies. You can hear the love the author has for the work and for you listening to them. It's warm and heartfelt and genuine. We need more people to be willing to be genuine in this world.

Nathan Monk is a fantastic, heartfelt writer and a lovely reader. He treats the listener as that--like a listener, instead of a captive audience at a speech. I wish more book readers would take notes on how he does it.

There are many quotable moments in this very well written book. It kept me on the edge of my seat while giving great insight and perspective on alternative lifestyles. The narration by the author was heartwarming and genuine. Left wanting more.

15/10 Definitely Recommend

The best stories to listen to are the ones your buddy tells you when you're on a road trip together or sitting on a bar stool. This is that story. I didn't know much about the author or the book when I started it so I went in blind. Honestly, at first I thought it was a memoir. And really it kind of is. You will see yourself and others you know in the characters of this book. It follows the events that our generation experienced, for better and for worse. It hits all the right notes of the loves and losses, friendships, heartaches, beautiful souls whose lives were too short, and the anger and anxiety we struggled with. And the best part, is that it is read by the author. I love that sometimes I can hear him turn pages as he reads. It wasn't edited to the typical standards of audiobook perfection, but that is what makes it perfect. It feels more like a story being told between friends, rather than the standard audiobook narration we're used to. 15/10 definitely recommend.
