About this listen

"Retired" detective and police captain's wife Molly Murphy Sullivan tangles with Tammany Hall in the next in Rhys Bowen and Clare Broyles' New York Times best-selling historical mystery series.

New York, Autumn, 1907: Former private detective Molly Murphy Sullivan is happy with her place in the world. She and her policeman husband, Daniel, have built quite a life for themselves in Greenwich Village, in their modest-yet-beautiful home in Patchin Place, filled with family, friends, and laughter. Molly and Daniel have a good marriage, a true partnership where they value each other’s opinions in all things.

So when he tells her they’re moving to a fancy home on Fifth Avenue—and that he’s running for the sheriff of New York—Molly is left reeling. Daniel begs Molly to trust him, but why would he run for sheriff on the Tammany ticket? A party known more for kickbacks and quid pro quo than anything else, it used to be everything Daniel despised. So what’s changed? And why didn’t he discuss it with her beforehand? Molly can’t help but wonder what Daniel’s got himself tangled up in...and whether he needs her help to get out.

In this next installment in this beloved series All That Is Hidden, the incomparable Molly is drawn into the dangerous world of politics, forced to navigate through the webs of lies and deceit that are hidden behind a veil of vast wealth and grandeur.

I love the mother- daughter collaboration on this latest Molly Murphy adventure. The story line was well developed and held my interest until the end. Rhy and daughter, Clare, stay true to Mollys character, insecurities, and crafty detective reasoning. Bridie as a school age girl with the challenges that brings and how her character evolves provides an additional subplot. Together with a mix of NY politics in 1907, this a delightful addition to the series. I can’t wait for the next installment!

Delightful

Can't wait for the next one! These books go so fast and I'm always sad when I'm done. This was another great story w enough red herrings to keep things interesting!

Always a great ride!

I like to Google the events and characters in historical fiction to learn more about the era. I am also deeply into genealogy so when real people are part of the story, I expect their lives be somewhat historically accurate. In this case, it would have been far better if Mr Big and his family had been purely fictional and not be based on a real person. It detracted from the story for me. Cameos by real life characters, like William Randolph Hearst, are fine but not creating a fictional life for a real person.

Molly was splendid, Daniel was less stubborn and more human. Liam was cute and the story was interesting.

This was another great book by the authors. It held my interest. I could hardly wait to see what each chapter brought forth. The ending was fantastic. What a surprise can’t wait for her. Next story to come out. She’s a wonderful writer always has been. I read all her books, thanks again for a great book and a great story by both the authors
