About this listen

Sea Isle was supposed to be the fresh start Dr. Emilia McRoy dreamed of. Far from the busy emergency room across the Atlantic in Seattle, she hoped to settle down and begin this new chapter as a small-town doctor to the quirky residents who immediately welcomed her. When she stumbles across a dead body, she starts to think that she may not be as Scot free of the drama and intrigue as she initially thought.

Emilia soon learns she has bigger issues at hand. It starts with realizing she'll work closely with the less than helpful local constable, Laird Ewan Campbell. Her luck continues when she discovers that part of her new responsibilities includes being the coroner for the very body she found. Finally, when the body goes missing before she can even begin the autopsy, she must convince the townspeople that a crime did, in fact, occur. The deeper she digs into the picturesque town, the more suspicious she becomes. And then there are her sleep issues. It may be due to the ever-growing list of suspects, a number of threatening letters, or the surprise visitor who breaks into her house at night. But she’s never backed down before, and she doesn’t intend to start now.

Someone doesn’t want this doctor to treat the ailments of Sea Isle, but Emilia McRoy is determined to find the murderer before they kilt again.

The story in itself was good. However, there was a lack of research. Everything about the MRI is wrong. A person cannot carry two cords of wood. These and other inaccuracies make the story stumble.

Needs more research

Haven’t listened to any cozy mysteries in a long while. A mystery in Scotland seemed interesting so I selected this book. I enjoyed it. The story was a light mystery with the Scottish accent. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The murder happened right away, which I like instead of long dragged out descriptions of the area and people. The information was filled in as the story progressed. Kimberly Whetherell was easy to listen to with distinct differences between the voices. I got book two as well. I will be listening to it next.

Nice cozy mystery

Being a avid listener to cozy mysteries, over 200 in a yearly, this novel was surprisingly delightful. I loved the characters, setting and story. If your looking for a story with strong characters, a good mystery with a little romance in foreign country (for those who love traveling) this hits all the marks. Waiting on pins and needles for the next installment in early 2024!

Take a chance and travel to Scotland and enjoy the ride!

Wonderful

I liked the narrator and most of the characters, but the bad guy is too easily spotted. The heroine of the story seems much too clever to have not figured it out sooner. I still enjoyed the story, but if you’re going to have a smart, female lead then she should not be so gullible.

Nice story with a few issues.

the reading was done very well. although the Scottish accents were sometimes too thick to understand. the story did get somewhat cloyingly sweet at times.
