Publisher's summary

Two workplace rivals. One festive competition. And a romance that upends it all.

Every December two things are guaranteed for graphic designer Mackenzie Graham—Christmas celebrations and the annual promotion at her workplace. Those two things are by no means mutually exclusive. In fact, the better an employee is at harnessing the Christmas spirit, the more likely they'll win the new job. With her social anxiety, Mackenzie never thought she'd be a contender in her company's holiday competition, so how exactly has she found herself dueling her workplace crush with wrapping paper tubes and using tinsel as her weapon of choice for a much-needed raise?

Jeremy Fletcher's life is meticulously planned out, including how to win this year's promotion at work. Not only will the new position fulfill some of his career goals, but as a single guardian to his twin niece and nephew, he needs the salary increase to support his family. Jeremy has barely noticed Mackenzie Graham around the office, but now that she's his rival, he can't stop thinking about her. Her quirkiness intrigues him, and he's afraid that if he can't get his head on straight, the promotion isn't the only thing he'll end up losing to Mackenzie.

sweet workplace romance

This one is a sweet workplace romance where the heroine had admired the hero from afar (aka from within the small office of ten or so people) for a couple of years but due to her extreme shyness and social anxiety, they had never really exchanged more than a word or two.

When they become friendly rivals for a promotion, Mackenzie and Jeremy both end up learning to let go of some things in order to make room for God to open better doors for them.

Super sweet, while still having good substance — which is no surprise, as this is definitely a trademark of Sarah Monzon’s work. I loved it.

Let’s liken All’s Fair in Love and Christmas to some homemade hot chocolate with a candy cane swirled in and just the right amount of marshmallows. I highly recommend.

All sugar, no spice

For a book with a title that riffs on “all’s fair in love and war,” this was a book entirely lacking in conflict. Instead of enemies to lovers, this was about two super duper kind people politely competing for a promotion. Their flaws? He’s too dedicated to raising his orphaned niece and nephew. She’s too shy.
You know how in kids competitions these days, there are no losers? Yeah, this story kind of felt like that. Everything was so sweet. Everyone was so self sacrificing. Everyone was so accepting of a workplace that promotes the people who best celebrate the religious holiday.

No cussing, sex, or politics. There was, however, a steadily growing religious beat, including both Mackenzie and her BFF praying, quoting verses, and asking Jeremy the ultimate question of whether he’s making the choices that follow the path. I would have appreciated the genre labels that this was wholesome, Christian romance. This was a lovely Xmas romance and I don’t regret the sale purchase. However, I doubt I’ll listen again.
