About this listen

"Narrator Kathleen McInerney will have listeners believing in miracles.”—AudioFile on The Santa Suit

From Mary Kay Andrews, New York Times bestselling author of The Homewreckers and The Santa Suit, comes a novella celebrating love and the warm, glittering charm of the holiday season.

"Nobody does Christmas like Mary Kay Andrews."―Debbie Macomber

"Cozy up with Santa's favorite novelist!”―Adriana Trigiani

When fall rolls around, it’s time for Kerry Tolliver to leave her family’s Christmas tree farm in the mountains of North Carolina for the wilds of New York City to help her gruff older brother & his dog, Queenie, sell the trees at the family stand on a corner in Greenwich Village. Sharing a tiny vintage camper and experiencing Manhattan for the first time, Kerry’s ready to try to carve out a new corner for herself.

In the weeks leading into Christmas, Kerry quickly becomes close with the charming neighbors who live near their stand. When an elderly neighbor goes missing, Kerry will need to combine her country know-how with her newly acquired New York knowledge to protect the new friends she’s come to think of as family,

And complicating everything is Patrick, a single dad raising his adorable, dragon-loving son Austin on this quirky block. Kerry and Patrick’s chemistry is undeniable, but what chance does this holiday romance really have?

Filled with family ties, both rekindled and new, and sparkling with Christmas magic, BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CHRISTMAS delivers everything Mary Kay Andrews fans adore, all tied up in a hilarious, romantic gem of a novel.

I enjoyed the Christmas theme, clean, and enjoyed the characters!

Christmas theme, clean romance, enjoyed the plot and characters. The old man was my favorite! Wonder if there is a sequel!?

predictable, feel good, uplifting, easy listening, and relatable in a positive light!

The narrator has a soothing voice that, along with the “down to earth & generational ‘family friendship’ relationships”, draws the listener deeper into the story by creating a familiarity between the characters and “normal life”.

Like a hallmark movie…

If you like unrealistic hallmark movies this is for you. The story wasn’t bad but I really did not like the love interest. A lot of the characters fell flat however the elderly character had more depth. I could read a story just about his life.

Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews is full of feel good vibes. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I could envision so many details and smell the fresh pine. Kathleen McInerney was great bringing the characters to life with her voice.

Not for me

I was excited for a Christmas book for this time of year but this was disappointing. I did not care for the narrator or the voices she made for the characters. She made the main character sound stupid and indecisive all the time and the little boy sounded annoying! I am sure this is an unpopular opinion but I had to share. I just didn’t care for any of the characters except for the old man. I just thought she tried to do too much in one book but again this is just my opinion. If your like me and covet your credits, I would skip this one.
