Some secrets change the world...

Once a privileged heiress, Annabelle Ross is now struggling to hold her home and her life together through the devastation of the War Between the States. But with a forced marriage and a desolate future on the horizon, her hopes are beginning to dwindle. When she discovers an encrypted note on a dying soldier, she seizes the opportunity to use it to deliver a message of her own. Instead, she’s mistaken for a spy and captured. Now, her only chance to escape is the handsome soldier in charge of discovering her secrets.

After his brother is captured by enemy soldiers, Matthew Daniels vows to rescue him at any cost. When a secret society offers him a chance for retribution, Matthew must decide between his loyalties and his convictions. To prove himself, he’ll have to first unmask the spirited spy holding the key to their plans or risk losing his brother forever.

An Accidental Spy is a 2020 rewrite of the previously published title Leveraging Lincoln (The Liberator Series, book one).

Book one of three. The Accidental Spy Series is an adventurous romantic trilogy following Annabelle Ross and Matthew Daniels. Please note these books must be listened to in order and that while each book has a complete story line, the overall plot is completed throughout the trilogy.

Fabulous story

This exciting story is the first in The Accidental Spy trilogy. You will want to listen to this first since it foundational and is a cliffhanger for the second book, A Dangerous Performance.

Annabelle Ross is just the kind of young lady who finds the courage to stand up to her conniving and greedy step grandfather who wants her ancestral home. However, her decision is not without consequences as she leaves the plantation to find help. Her willingness to face dangerous men and secret plots brings this story to life.

Accompanying Annabelle is Peggy, her maid who is sassy and yet sensible in guiding Annabelle. She is funny and spirited and I look forward to hearing what else she will do to help her mistress. Bryn Austin’s performance of Peggy was well done and made me laugh at her reactions in various situations.

Disappointed! The sample was the best part

If you’re looking for a good mystery, this is not the one. The characters are dreary and negative. It’s like listening to a bunch of miserable people, talking and complaining.
