About this listen

“It was meant to be play acting,” said Whittaker. “But when someone is shot dead, on the stage in front of an audience, then it becomes an act of murder.”

Another British crime thriller.

I'm a fan of John Holts writing it is uniquely english.
This story is set in a village in southern England.
Stereotypical characters of an english past.

John writes detective stories. If you like old-fashioned clean detective stories you might enjoy this book.

I enjoyed the storyline and all the characters.

There is no corse Language in it, or sex scenes. Although there is some violence it does not go into great details. Because of this I feel that this story could be read by young adults as well.

I enjoy John’s stories.

Narrator Ben Werling does a wonderful job bringing the characters alive with their own individual voices.

This was a stunning mystery with twists and turns. I liked how one clue led to investigating another lead and so on. The pieces seemed to fall in line as the detectives kept digging and digging. I kept listening and guessing unsuccessfully, but what a great adventure. Sadly, there were two murders, but it made the case so much more interesting and added more depth. I love a good mystery and this filled the bill for me. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. I highly recommend this book.
