Two best-selling Agatha Christie novels in one great audiobook

What is The Secret of Chimneys? A young drifter finds out when a favor for a friend pulls him into the heart of a deadly conspiracy in this captivating classic from Agatha Christie.

Little did Anthony Cade suspect that an errand for a friend would place him at the center of a deadly conspiracy. Drawn into a web of intrigue, he begins to realize that the simple favor has placed him in serious danger.

As events unfold, the combined forces of Scotland Yard and the French Sûreté gradually converge on Chimneys, the great country estate that hides an amazing secret....

A Murder is Announced in a small-town newspaper advertisement - and Miss Marple must unravel the fiendish puzzle when a crime does indeed occur.

The villagers of Chipping Cleghorn are agog with curiosity when the Gazette advertises, “A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6.30 p.m.”

A childish practical joke? Or a spiteful hoax? Unable to resist the mysterious invitation, the locals arrive at Little Paddocks at the appointed time when, without warning, the lights go out and a gun is fired. When they come back on, a gruesome scene is revealed. An impossible crime? Only Miss Marple can unravel it.

Loved and liked

I loved The Secret of Chimneys and I liked A Murder is Announced. I think the latter was built up as one of the best Miss Marple’s, but I was rather let down. It was jumbled. Chimneys was very interesting and engaging. I also preferred the first narrator to the second, but only because a few characters were particularly annoying in Announced - to the point that I was hoping they’d be the ones killed off.

Miss Marple Great

Always a pleasure to read Agatha Christie's novels but hearing the suspense on audio is even better. Looking forward to listening to more of her books.

Liked them

As usual I enjoyed very much the performance of Hugh Fraser, but I didn't like The secret of Chimney's story, too far fetched for my taste. I preferred "A murder is announced" and the reader does a good job changing voices for the several characters on the story.

Narrators

Hugh Fraser and Emilia Fox are the best for Christie books. Both were twisty and fun!

Typical Christie

A typical Agatha Christie book. As always way too many characters, everyone is a suspect, facts that are completely not knowable but in the end it’s all very entertaining. And of course Ms. Marple is way too clever but still we love her. I still enjoyed the audible book largely because the narration was so good.
