About this listen

Lost in despair, Alexis teeters on the edge of an abyss, her lifeline of hope fraying into a thin thread. If it snaps, she'll plunge into complete darkness. With the help of her son and her writing, she's been able to hold on. Until now. Erratic impulses, disturbing delusions and her own demonic blood threaten her sanity. When she's forced to choose between hanging onto hope or letting go to serve her Amadis purposes, she faces a decision with inconceivable sacrifices.

Alexis runs to the one place she thinks will provide answers, only to find herself at the center of another battle of good versus evil, not only with the Daemoni, not only within herself...but also against the worst opponent imaginable. But even if she wins, what will she lose?

I really enjoyed book 1 of the series and really looked forward to this 2nd book. However, I found a good portion of it unnecessarily wordy. Halfway through and towards the end, I kept wondering: how many ways will one sentence or emotion be spun on and on! It seems several paragraphs were used to describe what half a sentence would usually do. I actually got annoyed and irritated a few times. Towards the end, I just wanted it to finish.
However, it is still a good book, while not as enchanting as the first one.

good read, but not as good as the first

Again I must say that the narrator did a fantastic job except with Lexi's voice. It just irritates me like nails on a chalkboard! Ugh! Otherwise, loved the 2nd book as well as book 1, maybe even better. It was so sweet when Lexi introduces Tristan to his son. I shed some tears on that. One thing I wish the author would have cut back on is how whiney and indecisive Lexi is. I seriously wanted to slap her sometimes, no, actually a lot!! Having to hear her thoughts go back and forth constantly was most irritating that I had actually thought if I could continue. But, I'm invested especially since there son was involved. I believe if I was to read the books instead of listening to audible I wouldn't have to her Lexi's stupid, whiney almost junior high voice. All that to say....it was still a great and exciting book.

Story great but a bit long.
