A n unsuitable bride

I enjoyed all of the series.all had strong intelligent heroes and heroines.
Justice was often not obtained with laws in enforced in this time
period .The writing is so good that I felt like I was there with the h/h.
I would never want to meet anyone like Sir Stephen's wife. She was
an awful villain.

Great Adventure

Loved the story. The Mistress Hathaway was a really bold character. I did find myself wanting to stick it to Lady Maude though. But, thoroughly enjoyed the book. I wanted to see more in the resolution with Alex’s family. I felt like they introduced the mother but really didn’t get the purpose. But, great story.

Poor Series Ending

It’s like Game of Thrones. You have this series that is pure fire that ends without closure on several story lines. Very frustrating.

Not a lot of common sense used. Epilogue too short

The first two books were interesting. This book has too many areas where the female character didn't use common sense. This made her irritating. I had to skip through portions. Also, sex scenes in any book is a bore to me - just give two maybe three sentences of it and get on with the story. I wish the epilogue was longer to include the funeral, their other relatives' feelings, how many children they had, how the stepbrother faired without her help years later, etc.

Great book! Not so great listen.

I love Jane Feather's books, I think she writes a great romance filled with intrigue and deep human emotions. I looked forward to this third book after reading the first two and it was as good as the first two but I'm sorry Jill Tanner is not my favorite narrator. I don't want to be mean as she has excellent skills as a narrator but as a romance narrator she comes off as sterile and cold, very unromantic. I can think of many other genres she could read for an be incredible but in this one area I just can't connect with the story when she reads. This is the 4th book I have had to abandon because her sterile reading just causes me to lose interest. I end up buying the book and picking it up where I left off because I just can't finish listening. It might just be me, but I would recommend future listeners to take advantage of the preview button before purchasing to see if you can stand 6 hours of the droning Jill Tanner delivers. Sorry Jill.

It's Long Winded

It really didn't need to be as long as it was and the author makes an otherwise intelligent heroine look like a moron

Excellent Writing - Wasted Story

I was totally surprised by the X-rated details in this book. Truth be told there’s no redemption of any kind. Alexandria doesn’t even get the books she loved. She does get the man she loves but she is told she will do as he orders for life. This could have been a good story. All books need to be rated just as movies are.
