About this listen

RITA finalist Julie Klassen has earned numerous awards for her popular historical romance novels. In The Maid of Fairbourne Hall, pampered Margaret Macy flees her home in London to avoid marrying a dishonorable man. Now, with no money and no place to stay, Margaret does the unthinkable: she takes a job as a housemaid in the home of two brothers - both of whom are former suitors. As an “invisible” observer, Margaret realizes she may have misjudged one brother and wonders if it’s too late to win his admiration.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. It's a good story, but seems to end so abruptly it's really disappointing.

If you’ve listened to books by Julie Klassen before, how does this one compare?

Well it seemed to me as if the writer just ran out material and ended the story. No epilogue, etc.

Any additional comments?

Listened quickly, enjoyed the story and mystery, but was disappointed in the last couple of chapters and specifically the abrupt ending.

Good story, but seemed to end abruptly.

Would have loved a follow up, the story was very long for such a short ending. Still worth the read

I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the rather abrupt ending. A pity, but still an enjoyable book.

Sometimes a book introduces strong characters or sweeping scenery that takes your breath away. While this book did have wonderful characters and an interesting setting, in my opinion this work was so enjoyable because it was just a really good story. A story that burrowed into your heart and mind, and transported you exactly where Ms. Klassan wishes you to be. Once again, she has earned all her awards and accolades. The only thing wrong with this book is that it ultimately has to come to the inevitable end. Ms. Klassan, how about a sequel?

Good story
