Publisher's summary

In this audiobook, you will travel back to Ancient Rome, where gladiators fought in the famous Colleseum, emperors were murdered to make way for new emperors, calendars were created, and Greek mythology was re-made into Roman mythology!

Have fun listening to what’s left of this amazing society as you explore ancient ruins! Test your knowledge with end-of-section activities, and watch history come alive as you learn of the fascinating Roman Empire! We owe a lot to Ancient Rome, and you’ll learn what we abolished - and what we kept from this exciting time in history.

If you’ve ever seen a movie with gladiators or heard of Julius Caesar, you already know something about the Roman Empire. But did you know that Caesar helped create the calendar that our calendar is based on? Did you know that emperors had other emperors killed and sometimes even murdered their own families? You’ll learn this - and more - as you listen to this wonderful account of Ancient Rome. You will also learn:

  • How elephants helped win an important battle
  • The island that two cities fought for
  • How we use the same type of government used back then
  • Plebians and Patricians - which would you want to be? Why?
  • How did a great talker become so important?
  • Why a city started another war with the city it had just beaten!
  • When the Romans met the Greeks
  • Everyone was a citizen, except for...can you guess?
  • Brutus, Cassius, and murder
  • Changing your name - everyone did it!
  • This Cleopatra - or that Cleopatra?
  • The Julio-Claudian Dynasty and the Five Emperors
  • And so much more!

Dive into rich and amazing stories of warring neighbors - and many wars within the Roman Empire itself. You’ll be amazed at what the emperors got away with and why there was never a dull moment in Ancient Rome.

Now I know where kids learn to up-speak.

The story might be Ok, but I can't get past the juvenile way the narrator speaks, ending declarative sentences with a question. That, and speaking like the audience is age-1 or less, not exactly the way one discusses executions, ambush and murder.
I pass on this.
