About this listen
The stunning conclusion to the trilogy that began with the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning Ancillary Justice.
For just a moment, things seem to be under control for the soldier known as Breq. Then a search of Atheok Station's slums turns up someone who shouldn't exist - someone who might be an ancillary from a ship that's been hiding beyond the empire's reach for three thousand years.
In the meantime, a messenger from the alien and mysterious Presger empire arrives, as does Breq's enemy, the divided and quite possibly insane Anaander Mianaai - ruler of an empire that's at war with itself.
Anaander is heavily armed and extremely unhappy with Breq. She could take her ship and crew and flee, but that would leave everyone at Athoek in terrible danger. Breq has a desperate plan. The odds aren't good, but that's never stopped her before.

Story
With no water, no air, and no native life, the planet Gora is unremarkable. The only thing it has going for it is a chance proximity to more popular worlds, making it a decent stopover for ships traveling between the wormholes that keep the Galactic Commons connected. If deep space is a highway, Gora is just your average truck stop. The Five-Hop is run by an enterprising alien and her sometimes helpful child, who work hard to provide a little piece of home to everyone passing through.

Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

The sun is bloated, diseased, dying perhaps. Beneath its baneful light, Shadrapar, last of all cities, harbours fewer than 100,000 human souls. Built on the ruins of countless civilisations, Shadrapar is a museum, a midden, an asylum, a prison on a world that is ever more alien to humanity. Bearing witness to the desperate struggle for existence between life old and new is Stefan Advani: rebel, outlaw, prisoner, survivor.

Story
At his death in 1988, Robert A. Heinlein left a legacy that almost single-handedly defined modern science fiction. But one of Heinlein's masterpieces was never finished. In 1955, he began work on Variable Star, a powerful and passionate tale of two young lovers driven apart by pride, power, and the vastness of interstellar time and space. Now, the Heinlein estate has authorized award-winning author Spider Robinson to expand his outline into a full-length novel. And the result is vintage Heinlein.

Master Piece
I have listened to this series for the nth time. Every read and every listen, it gets better. It’s simply sublime. The plot, the beautiful way the story is told (poetic? ), the audio execution. It is my favourite book in this genre. Thank you Ms Leckie, your book has enriched my life.

resounding success
Its hard for me to find fault with this trilogy. But I sometimes wonder whether it's success is due to the narrator, such is her skill at delivering rich characters.
Thats said, it's the motivation and actions of these characters which make them so compelling.
I adore these book and the only real difficulty is explaining them to friends in some vain hope they will also read them.

As you progress in the series the books get better
The whole series makes a very interesting saga. The first two books are - to me - not complete. Only here in the third book you get a clearer idea of how things are really working. The complexity of the storyline is not the problem to me. Rather it feels like the first two books are cut too short without any conclusion. Maybe it should have been just one very long book out of these three.

Boring cliché
The first two books were quite decent, so I was hopeful about this one. Unfortunately, the simplistic lucky-good and dumb-evil story dominates throughout and sci-fi elements take a step back. I had never struggled to finish an audiobook before.
