I was pleasantly surprised by this book

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, this is my first book from the Author. I felt like I was listening to a David Baldacci book. The twists were really well done and well thought out. The story starts as two separate stories, it unclear until about midway, what connects the two. But once they do connect, light bulbs just go off. Really like how the Author did that, one side was spy, the other side was cop/PI. I loved the character Grace, she has a disability. Well, most of the characters do but hers is physical compared to the others. But she doesn’t let that stop her getting what she wants. She was also not ashamed to ask for help.

It was a little confusing in some areas with who was talking or was it the TV in the background?

Not a fan

I have listened the 1-4 series and really enjoyed it. But, this book was difficult. The narrator really didn’t get me excited about listening to the story. I actually stopped it several times the the intention of returning it.

But, the plot was good and a pretty decent story, but got a little too political for me. I selected a thriller/mystery not a book on politics.

I was all set to give this 4 or 5 stars until...

I was ready to give this story high marks...until the author started making thinly veiled comparisons between a fictitious presidential candidate in this story to our current President, Donald Trump.

The author used every half-baked inflammatory accusation and mischaracterization available at the time of his writing of the book to simultaneously describe the fictitious politician in his story while taking obvious swipes at then candidate Trump.

I wouldn't care if his critiques were accurate. Trump has plenty of genuine warts on his personality, but the things this author accused the president of simply are not true. Trump is not a misogynist, or a racist, period and his support among women and hispanics and blacks is all the proof anyone should need.

Almost 3 years into his first term, we have the advantage of knowing that Trump has been an excellent and high effective leader who has kept a great many of his campaign promises inspite of near constant attacks from the Left.

If you're thinking "I didn't come here for a discussion of politics...I just want a review of this audiobook" just imagine how I feel. Having invested hours into a story I've already paid for, only to find i cannot continue past the 3/4 mark and finish the story because I don't want to hear anymore these tired old lies I know to be false.

Don't buy this audiobook. The narration is very weak and the author is a fool...a talented fool, but a fool nonetheless.

I went back and listened to the ending out of curiosity....what a trainwreck...I've listened to 500 audio books...this one is the worst by far!
