Publisher's summary

Aquinas at Prayer draws attention to important aspects of Aquinas's life and work which have been all too often overlooked or forgotten. Today Aquinas is almost exclusively regarded as an outstanding scholastic philosopher and theologian. But what is little known is that Aquinas was, first and last, a teacher of the Bible - a Master of the Sacred Page. Moreover there is a distinctly mystical character to his theology. And, as a writer, he was not only a poet but, arguably, the greatest Latin poet of the Middle Ages.

The primary focus of this most engaging new book is to explore the question of Aquinas's own practice of prayer and his teaching on prayer in his commentaries on the Psalms and St Paul. The book is strengthened by quotations from Aquinas in fresh translations.

The Veil of is Torn.... he is indeed a Saint

Would you listen to Aquinas at Prayer again? Why?

yes, because it gave me a new insight into Aquinas and showed the Heart behind the all to well known head. He was a mastermind in philosophy, but this book connected the dots to his deep inner spirituality and relationship with the Lord that was truly eye-opening

What other book might you compare Aquinas at Prayer to and why?

There are none that compare, all other works about Aquinas divorce his head from his heart and this is tragic

Which scene was your favorite?

When he goes thorough in detail his composition of the "O Salutaris Hostia" and breaks it down showing the depth of love and reverence Aquinas had for Our Lord and his deep sensitivity to His Real Presence in the Eucharist.

I wish Paul Murray would write and narrate more...

I come back to this book almost daily. The narration is artful and the cadence of the narrator matches the subject matter perfectly. Paul Murray offers a masterful study in a warm, devotional style.

Fantastic!

You really don’t know Aquinas until you’ve read this book. This book gives you a real glimpse into just who Saint Thomas really was, and instead of a cold logician we find a man whose heart burns with a deep and ardent love for God.

This audiobook is a great exploration of St. Thomas Aquinas' prayers. For best enjoyment of the audiobook you should have a written copy of The Aquinas Prayer Book to follow along.
