About this listen

Chosen by the Companion Rolan, a mystical horse-like being with powers beyond imagining, Talia, once a runaway, has now become a trainee Herald, destined to become one of the Queen's own elite guard. For Talia has certain awakening talents of the mind that only a Companion like Rolan can truly sense.

But as Talia struggles to master her unique abilities, time is running out. For conspiracy is brewing in Valdemar, a deadly treason that could destroy Queen and kingdom. Opposed by unknown enemies capable of both diabolical magic and treacherous assassination, the Queen must turn to Talia and the Heralds for aid in protecting the realm and insuring the future of the Queen's heir, a child already in danger of becoming bespelled by the Queen's own foes.

Quiet strength

I really enjoyed this book it has a quiet yet powerful quality to its storyline. The main character is slightly reminiscent to the main character in Trudi Canavan's book "The Novice". I find that the character grows in strength and confidence and so does the storyline. So I believe that the reader won't go wrong with the purchase of this book.

MY FAVORITE BOOK!!!

I was so excited to see this, I've been reading it for 30 years and Christa does an amazing job performing it.

I need Audible to release the other two now!!!

Captivating

I read this book years ago. Listening to it on audible made it just as magical. The narrator is wonderful and I was drawn into the story again immediately.

Such a good book

The story is engaging and you feel like you can almost relate to the main character. I would give the story more stars but there are some time line discrepancy’s that should’ve addressed if you have read all the Valdamare books. That was my only complaint about it. But this is just an easy sirese to just grab any of the books and start to read without knowing much about the other books.

Surprisingly good performance!

I've loved the story for years, so my review is about this particular performance. It took me a bit to appreciate her style with so many years of head cannon going on, but once I gave it a chance I found I REALLY like it!

Old Favorite

This book is an old friend, well loved and well read. The narrator did not disappoint and I found her voice soothing. I also liked he characterizations. I will have to get the other 2 books in the trilogy to listen to as well.

JOY

I have been waiting and hoping for this series. So far it's excellent. I am old and have enjoyed many of these as have my children and my children's children. This series is for all ages and a deliciously exciting adventure.

Returning to an old favorite

Would you listen to Arrows of the Queen again? Why?

Yes. It stands the test of time. I read a paperbook, own the kindle version and now the audible version. It is really delightful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Arrows of the Queen?

I liked how such a shy, abused child becomes a confident young women in the fantastical world of valdemar.

What about Christa Lewis’s performance did you like?

I loved her voices of the characters. Not every narrator can do both male and female voices well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved when she met her companion,Rolan.

Brilliant Escape

Mercedes Lackey's world building a character development is wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this escape and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Truly a tale worth enjoying

A thoughroughly enjoyable example of what an excellent vocal performer can do with a well written book.
