About this listen
As a Man Thinketh for Today's Audiences
James Allen's classic rephrased in contemporary language
Widely considered the greatest self-help book of all-time, As a Man Thinketh reveals how our thoughts shape our character and influence our circumstances, health, and achievements. The choice is yours: either master your mind to create the life you want, or remain mired in frustration and failure.
While James Allen's writing was exceptionally clear for its time, As a Man Thinketh—like any 100-year-old book—uses archaic language that can be difficult to grasp. In this 21st Century Edition, bestselling author Sam Torode entirely rephrases Allen's ideas in contemporary English, making his wisdom available to today's audiences. It's also gender-neutral (except for retaining the original title), because this is a book for all humans.

Story
Epictetus was brought as a slave to Rome, where he became a great teacher. His philosophy, called stoicism, was practical, not theoretical - aimed at relieving suffering here and now. And Epictetus knew suffering. Besides being a former slave, he was lame in one leg and walked with a crutch. Turning these obstacles to his advantage, Epictetus learned that lasting peace and happiness can only come from within. The Manual is a collection of Epictetus' essential teachings. It points the way to inner harmony and freedom, through all of life's storms and stresses.

Story
James Allen's From Poverty to Power (1901) and As a Man Thinketh (1902) stand as seminal texts in the self-help genre that have served as sources of inspiration since their publication at the beginning of the 20th century. Loosely based in its principles around the Biblical proverb "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he," As a Man Thinketh asserts the powerful idea that belief is central to bringing about positive events in one's life.

This fundamental truth, which some have called "The Secret" or the "Law of Attraction" was clearly and convincingly argued for the first time in James Allen's masterpiece, As a Man Thinketh. Allen reveals how our thoughts shape our character, and manifest themselves in our finances, health, appearance, and environment. The choice is yours: either master your thoughts and create the life you want or remain mired in negativity, frustration, and failure.

Positive, simple, and direct
I enjoyed this book and the content really fits what I am working on in life right now. I did the personal exercise at the end and really enjoyed doing so. Keeping my hand firmly on the vision of thought.
If you’re looking for some inspiration and clarity. Give, As A Man Thinketh, a read.
Take care,
Jordan M Myers

Excellent
This quick audio book holds a powerful message that gets right to the point.
This topic is somewhat common in self-help books. The main reason for it being excellent is because it's only 45 mins where some audio books are hours long. Excellent if you are needing a dose of effective advice.
