Publisher's summary

When Lori Shepherd's husband, Bill, is summoned to a will reading at the Earl of Harrisford's resplendent Palladian home, Lori herself thinks she is just along for the ride. But this gathering of the entire Harrisford clan, all of them affected by the earl's new will, devolves into a dangerous family dispute. Burning topiaries, threatening notes, suspicious maids, and family intrigue lead Lori to seek her phantom aunt's help in identifying the culprit before he or she can torch the whole house and its guests within. Atherton's signature whimsy and splendidly original twists make for yet one more delicious adventure with cozy mystery lovers' favorite supernatural sleuth.

Narration Ruined This One For Me

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Definitely change the narrator.

Would you recommend Aunt Dimity Takes a Holiday to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend reading the book, not listening to it. I enjoy this series because it's a light read with interesting story line.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Teri Clark Linden?

I really don't know narrator's names so I cannot suggest an alternative but Ms. Linden "performs" as if the listener was a child. Everything she reads is very clearly enunciated and slow. It's hard for me to listen to the story since she is so distracting.

Did Aunt Dimity Takes a Holiday inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

I wish I had not purchased this audio book and just read it instead.

The Reader is TERRIBBLE!!!! I couldn't finish it!

WHY would they hire a reader liike this and why would the Author allow It? I would buy every book in this series if it wasn't for the reader!!! So Dissapointed! The original reader, Christina Moore was great. Get her back and re-record these books and I will be the first in line to buy the series!

Won't buy anymore Audible of this series

Would you try another book from Nancy Atherton and/or Teri Clark Linden?

No. Teri Clark Linden is one of the most frustrating narrators I've listened to. She reads with over-precision in her diction. I can't help but imagine some of my favorite characters moving around like robots. These characters are far too casual in their speech patterns to have every vowel and consonant pronounced as if Teri recently learned to read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love both Lori and Bill. And who can resist Aunt Dimity?

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden’s performance?

No acting skills at all. Perhaps I'm spoiled by narrators who actually perform rather than merely read. Ack. I'm not sure I can finish this. It's far too stilted in the delivery.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.
