A Man Called Ove meets Inspector Montalbano, Auntie Poldi leaves no stone unturned in her quest for answers. Wine and murder - nothing is more likely to rouse Auntie Poldi's love of the chase.
Still relishing the notoriety from her spectacular resolution of the Candela case, Poldi is alive to the faintest whiff of criminality. What to others might seem a series of misfortunes - the water supply cut off, a poisoned dog - is clearly, to Poldi, an escalation: the Mafia have had her in their sights ever since she solved Valentino's murder.
Poldi has tasted blood. No one is above suspicion. And trouble will surely follow....

I thought this was a good follow up to Sicilian Lions. I really liked the plot,
Poldi continues to be a sassy woman who struggles with alcoholism and depression. Which explains why she can be so mean to her nephew at times. She does experience consequences for her unofficial private investigator actions.
There continues to be some funny moments and antidotes from Poldi's life (the voice acting for Cher was very funny).
In this second book there are noticeable reoccurring themes: Uncle Martino's theories on the CIA and the mafia (I loved those!), how the mafia is like a vampire, how the warring police departments are stereotypical dumb cops and how her nephew's epic family saga is convoluted (those parts of the story go off the rails and I stop listening sometimes).
There is also all the little tidbits about Sicilian culture, life and food that are my favorite.
