About this listen

Unhappily married to an abusive man with a big life insurance policy, Michelle Weeks thought she'd plotted out the perfect crime. But when her best-laid plans unravel and a nosy insurance agent shows up at her door, Michelle is forced to embark on a desperate cover-up: a frantic dance that includes improbable alliances with a corrupt cop and a medical examiner's assistant, plus a hasty trip to a Caribbean medical school, the theft of a freshly dead corpse, and a bone-chilling run-in with a ghoulish cult.

In Autopsy: A Love Story, best-selling Kindle Singles author Richard Babcock (My Wife's Story, Ah, Rat) delivers his most heart-pounding and wickedly funny exploration of men, women and trouble.

Nonsensical murder cover up told in clunky present tense. We’re supposed to like Michelle because her dead husband abused her, but we are never shown any redeeming qualities to her. She preys upon several men in this short novella, using her body to enlist a cop, mortician’s aide, etc to help cover up her poorly thought through murder (at one point matter of factly acknowledging she’ll blow ugly men to advance)

According to the summary, this was a love story, but the only love is unrequited, from one of the disposable saps she sleeps with. This isn’t a love story, nor is it funny, unless you like to laugh at cringeworthy accents (the Scottish, Ack!) The end tries to rehabilitate her, but by then, I was just happy this book was over.
