Publisher's summary

In an all-new series, New York Times best-selling author Yasmine Galenorn invites listeners to Whisper Hollow, where spirits walk among the living and the lake never gives up her dead.

Fifteen years ago, I ran away from Whisper Hollow, Washington, a small town on Crescent Lake in the Olympic Peninsula. But truth is, if you were born here, you can never really leave. I'm Kerris Fellwater, and when I returned, I inherited my grandmother's house - and her gift. As a spirit shaman, it's my responsibility to drive the dead back to their graves because around Whisper Hollow, people - and secrets - don't always stay buried.

When I was little, I was told my mother ran off. But now it looks like she was murdered. With the help of my mysterious neighbor, Bryan, we begin to unravel the mystery of her disappearance and in doing so unearth a dark force seeking to bury Whisper Hollow. Now I must work with the dead rather than against them because our enemy will do whatever she can to destroy the town, and she means to start with me.

A creepy-beautiful and immersive world

I love this world, especially the lament singer who plays her violin in the graveyard to sing the dead to sleep and the Crow Man and Penelope the Gate Keeper--they are fascinating ideas and roles as well as characters. The world of Whisper Hollow is rich and layered, terrifying and beautiful. The heroine is believable and gutsy, someone you can root for. It's a world of gods and of monsters both human and otherwise. Galenorn's writing is compelling and beautiful, both in idea and word. Not quite a cozy mystery, but it has a little of that vibe. A dark and lovely story in a dark and lovely world. The performance is spot-on too. I'll definitely listen to it again. I hope they eventually put the second one on Audible as well.

Great Debut

I don't really care for the Other world Series but I loved the Indigo Court series and now this one. This characters were in a believable world with realistic situations and feelings. The story and mythology are creative and entertaining. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Loved the book

Loved the book. Only reason I gave 4 stars was narrator made some characters a little breathy for my taste. Otherwise, great book!

I loved this book! I read this book in just over a day. I went online and found there is 1 more in this "series" , it came out in 2016 so I hope audible plans to add it to thier store.
This story is about a spirit shaman and a town who takes care of the dead, but is being over run by an evil enemy.
I want the next book please!!
