About this listen

Deke Bannon, federal criminal investigator, risks his life just about every damn day - but that doesn't mean he'll let Kelly Johns do the same. A deadly international gang has targeted the gorgeous news anchor for knowing too much and trying to find out more. To protect Kelly, Deke will have to keep her close - no matter how hard she fights him. Good luck with that. Kelly's every instinct tells her she's stumbled across the story of her career. But there's a catch. Without Deke, she can't infiltrate the dark underworld operating beyond the reach of the law. With him, she's in a whole other kind of danger. On the case, Deke Bannon is a force of nature - unpredictable, unstoppable, and always one step ahead of her. Except when he takes her in his arms - and the world stands still for both of them....

Great story line, great character development, good narration,
But when it came to the end it was like she ran out of steam or time.
The romance was more a close friendship rather than a loving couple. And at the end it said a year had passed, but no reference to the romance progressing, no mention of in-depth couple development. He knocked at her door without even going into the apartment....pulled out a white box and proposed! No words of love, no reference to his job change as in the last chapter, he was recognized by the under world. Not even down on one knee. It just felt like she ran out of steam or had to submit for a deadline so boom abruptly ended the story line.

great writing almost to end..then boom poor ending

This book was too cheesy. I prefer JD western stories over stories like this. Would not recommend.
