About this listen

A Wall Street Journal Top 10 national best seller

Number one Kindle best seller in "Mysteries & Thrillers"

Who is hunter?

Who is prey?

Who will survive?

Award-winning true-crime author Robert Bidinotto makes his stunning fiction debut with a best-selling thriller that has earned more than 200 "5-star" rave reviews from readers.

Two people, passionately in love.

But each hides a deadly secret.

He is a crusading vigilante, on a violent quest for justice.

She is tracking this unknown assassin, sworn to stop him.

Neither realizes the truth about the other.

And neither knows that a terrifying predator is hunting them both....

From its first moments, Hunter takes you on a nonstop thrill ride: from the top floor of the CIA, to the marbled corridors of Capitol Hill...from the posh hotels of downtown Washington, to the city's mean, violent streets. It introduces a colorful new hero for our time - and a dazzling heroine every bit his equal.

A spy mystery...a crime thriller...a passionate romance: Hunter is a genre-bending novel unlike any you've read. Deviously plotted, filled with vivid characters, and propelled at a breakneck pace, it's a tale as memorable for its provocative ideas as for a rousing climax that has readers cheering.

If you enjoy the thrillers of Lee Child, Stephen Hunter, Brad Thor, and Vince Flynn, you'll love Hunter.

Critic reviews

"One of the best vigilante thrillers since Clancy's Without Remorse.... Hunter delivers in a way few thrillers do. From the opening kill shot to the climactic showdown, Hunter strikes home with the power and pinpoint accuracy of a Barrett M99....A fantastic debut thriller....A solid five stars." (Stephen England, author, Pandora's Grave)
"A joy...one of the great romances....To say that Hunter is a well-structured novel is an understatement....Even the lesser characters are vividly realized [and] memorably etched with a few deft strokes. Bidinotto seems incapable of creating a cardboard figure....I demand a sequel....I want to return to the exhilarating moral atmosphere of Bidinotto's story." (Roger Donway, The Atlasphere)
"This book has all the elements of an exciting thriller--strong conflicts, romance, action, and characters you care about. I especially loved the concluding paragraph, and you will too. Buy it." (Larry Abrams, author, The Philosophical Practitioner)

Hunter

Very interesting and intriguing. Enjoyed it very much. The performance by Conor was excellent and overall a great since of poetic justice.

Not a bad story

I have listened to this and the next book (Review Bad Deeds) - I like the story line but find the narrator a little annoying, all the male voices are overplayed to me.
The storyline is quite good and aside from some gratuitous violence and overuse of descriptives, I enjoyed the story. Some editing would have helped.

Interesting twist on extrajudicial action

CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS

This book was an interesting departure from what I expected. I really came to like the two main characters, albeit with some reservations. Dylan Hunter is a bit of a contradiction and it was sometimes difficult to reconcile the two sides of the protagonist. It takes some suspension of disbelief to follow along with his competing personalities. I was a little thrown by the beginning of the story with Annie looking like a kick-ass heroine, but that quickly fades as her more human side shows through and it was hard to track how the CIA really figured into the overall plot. Bidinotto takes a little too long - perhaps - to bring the vigilante and espionage linkage about. It was a nice read/listen, but not perfect. I look forward to future Hunter stories and hope that they track a little better, a little quicker in the second installment. Unfortunately, it is not an Audible title, so it may take a while to get to.

It is clear that the author is disillusioned with the cracks in the US justice system and that this book must have been very cathartic for him. I don't begrudge him that, but it is glaringly obvious.I hope Annie's prowess as a CIA officer is a little more apparent in the second installment.

The most novel element of the story is the relationship between Annie and Dylan with everything else sort of built around that central story. It was a little tough to believe Annie would be able to reconcile her concerns and fears about Dylan and come back into the fold. That element of the story would have been more palatable if more foundation of an epiphany were apparent. It seemed to be a snap decision. But I digress. The book was enjoyable and I look forward to more.

The audio quality was a bit sketchy at times as volume levels seemed to changed in and out and I found myself having to adjust the volume on my device to keep the levels consistent.

Riveting novel for the non-thriller type

Surprised myself that I'd like this so much. Well-written and performed with much talent, Hunter had the intrigue, factual knowledge of crimes and vigilantes as well as the sizzling romance with Annie Woods. Those from the Maryland/Virginia environs as well as the Chesapeake Bay will particularly enjoy the settings in Hunter. Got a little confused about the year of the story, and think the cover model looks a tad too young for the experienced Dylan Hunter, but otherwise a fantastic listening experience.

Great Book

I really liked the way the story grew. I could not put it down during the last 3 hours. Never get close to the end just before going to bed. You will stay up way after it's time you should be sleeping. Good job. Great story.

My Hero

Very entertaining. Loved the character, Dillon Hunter. Well developed and believable for fiction. He was tough, dark, able to leap tall buildings in a single jump, yet tender and vulnerable.

Enjoyed this one. Great action. Great characters

The previous reviews mentioned the romance as being one of the main elements of a high action thriller. The last time I picked one of these up I discovered a genre that I will never go near again. The action was great and separately the main characters were pretty interesting. The problem was every time they were together the woman's brain fell out of her head.

[minor spoilers]

In terms of the romance in this story....this is how to do it. A believable romance and a woman who didn't go stupid.

The vigilante story was fun and kept my interest. I enjoyed the way all the tendrils came together at the end. But I did think Anna's story could have been balanced a little more. I wanted to see Anna in action as an investigator. We come in at the end of her investigation and the rest of the book she was on a case that had zero movement. Also, there was the few scenes with, another of Matt's identities but they felt like they were just there with no real purpose in moving the story forward (other than perhaps to make the audience wonder if Dylan was the vigilante or not. Given that the blurb tells us the answer to the question from the git go...this seemed unnecessary. But in fairness I don't suppose that's the author's fault.

The narrator was great. I like Dylan as a hero and I'm hoping as the series goes on we'll get to know as much about Anna.
