About this listen

A Warrior Dangerously in Control

England, 1334 - In the second book of The Feud series, Baron Magnus Verdun is a warrior whose handsome face gives little indication of the darkness he struggles to contain. While pursuing the murderous brigands who plague his lands, he becomes the unwitting savior of the woman the king has decreed he wed - the reckless Lady Thomasin, whose very presence threatens his carefully ordered life. And more so when she proves outspoken beyond what is required of a dutiful wife. Can he tame this woman whose willful ways ought to offend, but instead captivate? More, dare he allow her near and risk exposing the secret that could push her away?

A Lady Perilously Improper

Despite efforts to make a proper lady of her, the illegitimate Thomasin de Arell knows she is no match for the Baron of Emberly. Though she expects her new husband will think her beneath him, she is unprepared when he insists on separate chambers. When he also demands she control her behavior, the spurned Thomasin rebels - and unknowingly becomes the pawn of forces determined to further the feud. But upon finding herself in Magnus's arms, she discovers he is not as indifferent as he would have her believe. And when she glimpses his torment, she is determined to shine light on his darkness. Will he let her in? Or will their enemies use the distrust between husband and wife for their own ends?

In this sequel to the best-selling medieval romance, Baron Of Godsmere, join Baron Verdun and his lady as they discover that true love seeks first the soul, and is as easily seen in the dark as in the light.

I LOVED this book so much. After reading the first book of this series (Baron of Godsmere), I was prepared to NOT really like either Thomasina or Magnus and, thus, to not like this book as much as the first. So I was completely unprepared for how much I loved both of them. Great fully developed characters -- easy to relate to in their weaknesses and insecurities -- and for whom I was anxiously awaiting their HEA. This one is definitely a keeper and one I will surely read again. I hope to find updates on some further aspects of their lives in future releases of this series.

Loved the narration as well.

Perfect

I have read every one of Tamara Leigh's books and usually love them. However, this left me wanting so much more... Not sure what was missing. Maybe plot just lacking interesting elements...? Nothing wrong with it per se, just not my favorite of hers.

Not my favorite

This is not the first book I have read from this author, and it definetly won't be the last. Please, by all means, enjoy!

Great continuation! Loved it!

Tamara Leigh has written an AMAZING follow-up to her first book of The Feud series! The stories within the story will draw you in and keep you guessing! Plenty of actin and romance that will grip your emotions, and enough faith to give hope even in the darkest moments of the tale!

A second installment equal to the first!

These stories are amazing, especially how they intertwine with the others in the series. Tamara Leigh has such a great mind that we may give ourselves over, our problems, and everything in life you need a break from. These characters fill your mind and your heart! Mary Sara Agliotta gives performances where you never think it is one actor doing all the roles. She can turn into anyone with just her voice! AI has nothing on her.

Didn’t think it was possible

By the king’s decree in an effort to end the feud between three noble families, Thomasin de Arell must wed Baron Magnus Verdun. The baron’s handsome countenance only makes her more insecure. Magnus has always valued his solitude in case the dark moods that often descend on him in the night is revealed, but how does one do that with a willful wife who proves quite captivating? Secrets and intrigue abound, and everyone is not who they appear. Can love grow and survive in such a setting?

The opening was quite confusing at first with too many characters, often with difficult Norman names, and a complicated plot. It did eventually get better, however. I appreciated that the main characters weren’t always at each other’s throat in this one, and the tension came more from the budding attraction between them. The book has an ending of sorts, but again, the mastermind behind all the plotting and evil isn’t revealed, and the reader is expected to get the next one. I hate that about this series. I gave it 4.5, which rounded up to a five. I do love this time period, and Tamara Leigh writes a good story. #Middle Ages #ArrangedMarriage #Heartfelt #MedievalTimes #Mysterious
