About this listen

“Southern bestselling sensation” (Katie Couric Media) Kristy Woodson Harvey returns with a “heartfelt and dramatic” (Lisa Scottoline, New York Times bestselling author) novel about mother-daughter relationships, small-town drama, and the unexpected strength that comes from leaning on a community of women when life gets turned upside down.

When Charlotte Sitterly’s husband is arrested for a white-collar crime, she and her daughter Iris are locked out of their house by the FBI and—what’s potentially even worse—thrust into the spotlight of @JuniperShoresSocialite, the town’s snarky anonymous Instagram account. Desperate and cut off from her bank accounts, Charlotte moves to a former beachfront bed-and-breakfast that’s home to a community of single mothers and draws plenty of gossip in the small coastal North Carolina town.

Charlotte and Iris find solace and are surprised by how much fun they’re having with the other families despite their circumstances. But when the women discover a secret link between them, it changes everything they thought they knew about the unconventional family they’ve created and leaves them wondering whether their coming together was a coincidence at all. Will the skeletons in the closets help Charlotte and Iris reclaim their place in the Juniper Shores community—or shatter the sisterhood forever.

“Perfect for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and Jennifer Weiner” (Country Living), Beach House Rules is a charming and uplifting exploration of the bonds of friendship, the true meaning of family, and reclaiming the power to reshape our own destiny.

This book was written well, but was very basic. It didn’t have the thrills or twist that I wanted. Overall the story was interesting and fun. I loved the friendships that were found and small twist. Loved the characters and all their stories. I just needed a little more.

Great book on finding friendship.

The story wasn’t believable at all. The characters were very shallow and it almost seems like this book was written for teens. I loved Harvey’s book A Happier Life, but this one wasn’t for me.

Disappointing

I thought this book dragged on until about halfway through, and it got better. It's a slow read in the beginning, and I think the book could have been about 100 pages less.

So many twist and turns- loved it and hope she writes more like this! Looking forward to her next novel

Love it!

It was just okay. The friendships were heartwarming. Loved the description of the town. I know this town could be a specific town I know in the Panhandle of Florida. Hated that yet again you have to throw children into adult situations.

Disappointing

I keep waiting for more books like KWH’s first books… Slighty South of Simple, Feels Like Falling, Under The Southern Sky, Dear Caroline, Under The Southern Sky, Christmas In Peachtree Bluff, The Southern Side of Paradise… the Peachtree Bluff series. I haven’t been thrilled with the last few. I just don’t connect with this plot. The narration is just irritating. Normally I can’t stop listening… the last few I’ve struggled to finish. Alice is whiny and breathy and just nerve grating. I just don’t care for that narrator. I don’t enjoy her narration in Mary Alice Monroe’s books, either. I don’t know I’ve waited and waited for this book and I hate to complain about a book I know she worked so hard on, but it’s just not there for me. It was disappointing.
