About this listen

The most savage beast makes for the most delicate beauty....

Prince Edward’s peculiar carnal desires are known far and wide throughout his kingdom, and the women of the nearby village live in fear that he may choose them next to join him in his castle for a night of unbridled passion. But when a goddess appears on his doorstep to punish him for his cruel ways, Edward’s days of being the strong, savage conqueror in his bedroom are over.

Now, cursed to reside in the delicate body of exactly the type of young woman he would have once used for his entertainment, Edward must show that he has learned from his past mistakes. With the help of his beautiful maidservant Jessica and a strapping young man from the village named Hans, he sets out to experience life on the feminine side as “Lady Bella”, and the two of them show him how to have more fun with his new body than he ever could have imagined having as a man.

But time grows short - when the last petal falls from a magic rose gifted to him by the goddess, if he has not yet proven that he is a changed man, he may be stuck as the lovely Bella forever.... Can he break the curse in time, or will he be trapped in the form of a young, helpless woman for the rest of his living days?

Clever twist to a classic tale

Alyson Belle does a wonderful job with depicting this adaptation of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale. She provides an immersive experience, aided by Juliana Solo’s narration, which results in a very entertaining read/listen.

A different and enjoyable story.

a bit of a spoiler, but I did enjoy that a comment from a character dis not get ignored. However, I would have been curious if that character still felt the same through the end, or if those feelings ended at a particular point. A very nice one-and-done story.

A Fairy tale of many stories combined into one

I struggled with the placement in time. I wasn't sure if it took place about the same as the actual Beauty and the Beast. Excalibur from King Arthur used as nod to males genitalia. There was commode to sit on not a chamber pot. I think it would have been better if it would have followed the original story just a bit better. If the "Beast" became "Belle" why wasn't there a Gaston and Lefou and the enchanted castle. There were enough characters in this novella to have been much more like the original characters. The ending was decent it felt like "Robinhood Prince of Thieves" with Kevin Costner were Robin Hood marries Lady Guinevere. I think as a gender swap it would have been better if the goddess would have come as the midwife to Belle when giving birth. I think the author could have spent a little more time studying this story out.
