About this listen

Highland laird Conor McTiernay had always dreamed of an enduring love. But the reality of women who desired him only for his title and lands made him swear off marriage forever. That is until he first set eyes on the Englishwoman his men found hiding in the forest. Beneath the dirt and grime it was clear Laurel Cordell was beautiful. But would she prove to be yet another beguiling seductress?

Laurel trusted that the Scottish chieftain would keep her safe from the cruel laird from whom she had escaped. Looking deep into Conor's silver eyes she saw not only his calculating warrior ways but his quick arousal to passion. But before they can explore the growing desire between them, their newfound love is threatened by secrets from her past....

Stubborn Highlander!

This romantic highland tale is a very simple story that starts out slow (for character development & interest) and ends nice. Laurel and Conor are both very stubborn which gives this love story spunk and chemistry. Although the first half was a bit slow it did pick up and kept me interested. All the other characters are interesting and well developed which I appreciate.

Also, I have to say, although I enjoyed this book it seemed to be another Cinderella type romance novel rather than a highlander story. There weren't many struggles or battles.....just toward the ending. So, if you go into this book knowing its not a typical highland warrior tale but more of a spunky romance......I think you will enjoy this one.

cry, whine, and yell

I don't usually write a review but couldn't stop for this book. The story was good a bit predictable but to take a strong main female caracter and have her whining, cry, and yelling especially whining and crying all through the book is a total turnoff. Terrible reading of the book.

Lovely Romance ..

I enjoyed this book, I like strong heroines. I look forward to more books by the author. The narrator was ok although when she reads live scene, she over do it and her pitch is too high.

Love story... Hate narrator!!!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The book itself defiantly. I love the book. Laurel and Conor are wonderful characters and I fell in love with every brother and couldn't wait to read their story. Laurel is a bad ass. She can ride, she can hunt, and she stands up and doesn't take shit from anybody. Conor is a devoted laird and a hard man but he is so caring. I couldn't help but feel for the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The test of wills between Conor and Laurel. He keeps trying to control her and she shows him that there is different ways to show you love someone

Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Flosnik’s performances?

No I would not listen to another one of her reading. She is so bland and I don't know what it is with some people reading but the Scottish sometimes sounds a little Swedish. I got bored with her. I wanted something to listen to in the car or just to help relax and I just got annoyed listening to her.

Could you see The Highlander's Bride being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I really wish someone would make a romance novel into a movie or tv show. I really don't know who I would choose to play the leads though.

Any additional comments?

Get the book you'll love it. I wouldn't advice listening to the audible unless they got a a different narrator.

Great Read Except…

I really like this series. It has an interesting story line and the narration is very good I would give it a 4 or 5 except for so many instances of modern language used instead of Scottish. They make my teeth grind. Weight was and is not in pounds and inches, boys were lads and girls lasses, and babies were barons. That is only three instances of modern terms being used.

A wonderful Scottish romance

I liked how two people came together accidentally and learned about each other and fell in love.

It was ok...

I can’t decide if it was the the writing or the narrator that made Laurel seem a little too whiny and timid for someone who was also supposed to be so strong as to go against what Connor said. Kinda the same for Connor. He seemed either harsh or whiny most of the time... I lean towards that a different reader would put a better feel to both. I’m going to listen to the next one and see if I can tell.

Otherwise, it was a pretty good story line. I just didn’t care for the whiny aspect.
