Waking a monster from its sleep is never a good idea.

Skye Carter is as normal as normal can be. But when she chances upon a man in the basement of an abandoned Hollywood Hills house, she's suddenly playing tour guide, and introducing a 1,500-year-old vampire to this century. And who even knows what’s going on with her teeth.

The truth is, immortality can get old—which is why Lucas Thorne went to sleep for 70 years. But he’s back and ready to take on undead enemies and friends alike. In a world where threatening creatures roam the night streets, he's the most dangerous of them all.

I’m not a ‘paranormal’ connoisseur typically, but Kylie has drawn me in! The humour and twists in this book were spot on! I enjoyed watching the staid Lucas get poked at by his ‘children’! For a typically dark topic, this book was light, humour filled with just the right ‘learning curve’ on vampires. I received this book free, but it had already been on my wish list!

Who knew Vampires were funny!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story. Kylie doesn’t write a lot of paranormal and I love going into her books blind. That being said, the story starts off with a bang.

Sky is dead before she knows what is happening to her. Lucas has been sleeping for decades until Sky walks into his house. But Lucas likes to not talk so after turning Sky, she has zero answers to any of her questions.

The story unfolded as Sky finds out more about what’s happening within the vampire community. Mostly thanks to Henry (a member of the family) since Lucas is a closed book. But the chemistry between Sky and Lucas is off the charts!

This book is a rather quick listen but very entertaining! I really hope that Kylie writes more on this world! It was a fun listen!

So good! I didn’t want to put it down!

Ok, so it wasn’t the most memorable, but it was enjoyable enough. It was sweet, funny and lighthearted. The characters were lovable enough, but it was a bit unoriginal. As usual, the emphasis was on being an “empowered woman.” Perhaps I’m just too old to enjoy that aspect of modern romance. It was lacking quite a bit for me, though. Lucas’s vocabulary and manner of speech are inaccurate in a way that caused his character not to be well developed. He used modern terms and seemed more like a 20 year old in his speech than a 1500 years old vampire. And if we could discover another term besides “as f%#k,” that would be superb. The story was abrupt, too. Overall, though, thanks to Andi, it was an enjoyable enough short story with some little spice. I’m just not into all the feminism, and the plot was rushed and lacking quality content.

Sweet, Easy Listen—despite leaving something to be desired.

Lucas and Skye are the 2 main leads. I like the fresh Vampire story.
I am never disappointed in Kylie’s work - and this does not disappoint . It is a nice quick read with not a lot of depth-just a story that is entertaining and pretty straight forward…I wasn’t sure I liked the pace of the story-but I listened to the story for what it was -short and entertaining & not a lot of long drawn out explanations about any of the characters…I sat back and enjoyed it…

The choice of Narrators was A+…perfection! I have been a fan of Kylie’s for a long time & I plan to continue to be for the future…if she extends this Vampire story with Lucas’s sons or other made vampires-it could be pretty interesting …

I enjoyed this book very much, it’s unlike other vampire novels I’ve read. Short, satisfying, and fun!

So satisfying!

It is a quick listen so not a chance for in depth character development - but it was a fun story! The banter between characters is witty, fast paced storyline that kept my attention and laugh out loud moments. The “sibling” plot line is a fun twist. Andi Arndt’s narration is wonderful as always!

Great banter

Absolutely loved this story! I just wish it was longer. I hate to spend my credits for only a 6 hour book.

Love the characters

I loved this book. To be fair I love most of her books. I’m hoping it becomes an actual series. She builds such intricate worlds that keep you invested start to finish and immediately have you yearning for book two, that some times never comes. Hopefully this is not that and we get to revisit this world in the near future.

I hope this is a new series
