About this listen
Bedtime Stories for Children: Calming Fun Stories with Animals, Friends and Dinosaurs: Guide Your Child to Better Sleep is a fun collection of stories inspired by the classics, such as Aesop’s Fables, but tailored to a more modern family.
You’ll be taken through the worlds of curious dragons, loud locomotives, and quarreling twin sisters in this volume of short works. Suited to an audience of children and adults alike, there are whimsical stories that take place in both the real world and in expansive magical kingdoms.
You and your child can look forward to learning lessons from people and animals of all shapes and sizes. There are large bears, tiny mice, and anthropomorphic coffee cups! Each character comes to terms with issues in their busy and sometimes confusing lives.

Story
Could your child’s bedtime habits use a mindful change of pace? The modern world is a busy and bustling place full of distractions and stress. From a young age, our children’s days are packed full of so many tasks, activities, and stimuli that it can be overwhelming. It’s no wonder they need a little help to unwind and connect with their inner selves when it comes time for bed. And what better place to jumpstart their imagination and quiet the worries of the day than in the past, during the intriguing and mystical time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Story
Mindfulness and meditation have helped millions to get to sleep with much more ease than ever before. Something that many parents haven’t considered is how these things can help their little ones to wind down, get ready for sleep, kick nightmares from their headspace, and settle in for a long night’s rest. Teaching meditation to your children might seem like an impossible feat, but many have found that their children are remarkably receptive to it when it’s presented like a story.

Story
Research tells us that just about anyone who practices meditation for even a few minutes each week on a regular basis, will see what wonders it can do for our peace, focus, energy, and stress levels. Between homework, school friends, extra-curricular activities, and doing as they’re told throughout the day, children can amass a bit more stress than we may give them credit for.

Story
Gerald Durrell's last book, The Aye-Aye and I, records his final animal-collecting expedition, a trip to Madagascar in 1990, and his efforts to save the elusive and mythical lemuroid known as the Aye-Aye. Prompted by the country's radical deforestation and slash-and-burn agriculture, Durrell, his wife, and their team of zoologists embark on a mission to capture and conserve the species - distinguished by its "giant, chisel-like teeth", "round, hypnotic eyes", and large "spoon-like ears".

Story
Is your child wild about dinosaurs? No one quite understands why so many kids go through a “dinosaur phase.” It may be because they are extinct and although they may have been huge and hungry, they are harmless to a child since they no longer exist. These mysterious and powerful creatures interest many children and are a fun and exciting way to introduce relaxation, mindfulness and meditation. There is nothing as powerful as this to help refocus, regulate and relax the human brain.

No running water, no car, no electricity or any of the things it powers: the internet, phone, washing machine, radio, or light bulb. Just a wooden cabin, on a smallholding, by the edge of a stand of spruce. The Way Home is a modern-day Walden - an honest and lyrical account of a remarkable life lived in nature without modern technology. Mark Boyle, author of The Moneyless Man, explores the hard-won joys of building a home with his bare hands, learning to make fire, collecting water from the stream, foraging, and fishing.

Nick and Lesley Albert yearn to leave the noise, stress, and pollution of modern Britain and move to the countryside, where the living is good, the air sweet, with space for their dogs to run free. Suddenly out of work and soon to be homeless, they set off in search of a new life in Ireland, a country they had never visited. As their adventure began to unfold, not everything went according to plan. How would they cope with banks that didn’t want customers, builders who didn’t need work, or the complex issue of where to buy some chickens?

Story
At 40, May Attaway is more at home with plants than people. Over the years, she's turned inward, finding pleasure in language, her work as a gardener, and keeping her neighbors at arm's length while keenly observing them. But when she is unexpectedly granted some leave from her job, May is inspired to reconnect with four once close friends. She knows they will never have a proper reunion, so she goes, one by one, to each of them. A student of the classics, May considers her journey a female Odyssey.

Story
John Marshall had read about the growth of voluntourism, and frankly, it was the only kind of extended trip he could afford. He'd heard that some peoples' lives were changed by a week of overseas service - what might half a year accomplish for his family? His wife, Traca, was all in favor of it; his kids, especially his 14-year-old daughter, were strongly opposed. Wide-Open World is the totally engaging, bluntly honest story of the Marshall family's life-changing adventure.

He didn't want to think about his failed relationship with 'the one' or his potential for ruining a new relationship with 'the next one'. And he almost certainly didn't want to think about turning 40. And so instead he went birding. Birding was a lifelong passion. It was only among the birds that Neil found a calm that had eluded him in the confusing world of humans.

In 1935 a young Englishman named Laurie Lee arrived in Spain. He had never been overseas. His idea was to walk through the country, earning money for food by playing his violin in bars and plazas. Nearly a century later, the book Laurie Lee wrote - As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning - inspired Alastair Humphreys. It made him fall in love with Spain - the landscapes and the spirit - and with Laurie's style of travel. Alastair dreamed of retracing Laurie Lee’s footsteps but could never get past the hurdle of being distinctly unmusical. This year, he decided to go anyway.
