About this listen

John O'Hurley has always had a dog by his side: as a boy growing up in New England, and now as a husband, father, actor, television-show host, and author in Los Angeles. To him, dogs are more than our best friends. They are also some of our most valuable and enlightened teachers.

Before Your Dog Can Eat Your Homework is written as a series of letters from O'Hurley's wise old Maltese, Scoshi, to his new baby son, William. In each letter, Scoshi shares observations on what it takes to be a man. O'Hurley then responds, including humorous remarks on what Scoshi meant to say, and offers more tales to illustrate each point.

At once poignantly moving and laugh-out-loud funny, Before Your Dog Can Eat Your Homework will delight dog lovers of all ages.

First of all, what an awkward title!! Lots of little pearls of wisdom in the book but nothing that hasn't been said before. Having read The Art of Racing in the Rain, I was expecting more from the dog. Maybe that's an unfair comparison.

Sweet but dull

This is the sweetest and funniest love story written about, and told to, a little dog and a baby boy. Thank you John O'Hurley for this precious gift.
