About this listen
Two wounded hearts, a beloved dog, and someone who’s out to destroy the hero’s dream or worse?
After a heartless betrayal, she’s sought refuge in Winfield.
A new college grad, Megan Blair isn't seeking her dream career. She is working her safe, same summer job at her sister’s waterfront Cafe. But this job will end with the summer tourist season. As she tries to forget, she wonders if she’ll ever regain her confidence.
After a life-altering accident, he has one goal.
Nick wants to give the dog who pulled him through rehab what she loves most. Alaskan husky Maddie has only one joy, racing. So Nick’s preparing her to lead his team in The Apostle Islands Annual Dog Sled Race early next year. But he needs help with the grunt part of that —preparing their food and cleaning their kennels and yard. And Megan (who considers him a grump) needs a job as the leaves fall and the first snow drifts down.
Nasty pranks begin endangering Nick and his beloved dogs.
Who doesn’t want him to succeed? Who doesn’t care who gets hurt? Nick can’t imagine why this is happening. Megan and Nick draw closer as the danger mounts. But both have been brutally betrayed by the ones they’d loved. Can they begin to trust again…in the midst of someone’s hatred and violence?
A heartwarming, Christian romantic suspense with characters – – some four-footed – – you won't easily forget by a Carol Award-winning author of over 50 novels.

Good mysterty
I found enjoyment in this Christian romantic suspense novel. Having read the series to this point, I've noticed the books keep getting better. This latest installment, centered around Alaskan huskies, was particularly intriguing

Dogs and sled racing
Dog sled racing is the main theme, but I was intrigued by a brief scene about skijoring. I had never heard of this sport until a couple of years ago when I edited a nonfiction book about a family who participated in it. The strange happenings were suspenseful, and it’s always good to read a romance that you don’t have to wonder if you’re going to encounter something inappropriate. A faith element is an added plus. The computer generated voice was surprisingly good.
