Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan brings us the first book in a new romantic fantasy set in the enchanting world of These Hollow Vows. When a human princess armed with death's kiss allies with a fae shifter on the run, their mission to assassinate an evil king collides with a fatal prophecy.

Princess Jasalyn has a secret. Armed with an enchanted ring that gives her death’s kiss, Jas has been sneaking away from the palace at night to assassinate her enemies.

Shape-shifter Felicity needs a miracle. Fated to kill her magical father, she’s been using her unique ability to evade a fatal prophecy.

When rumors of evil king Mordeus’s resurrection spread through the shadow court, Jasalyn decides to end him once and for all. Felicity agrees to take the form of the princess, allowing Jas to covertly hunt Mordeus—and starting Felicity on the path that could finally take her home.

While Jasalyn teams up with the charming and handsome Kendrick, Felicity sets out to get closer to the Wild Fae king, Misha. Kendrick helps Jasalyn feel something other than anger for the first time in three years, and Misha makes Felicity wish for a world where she’s free to be her true self. Soon, the girls’ missions are at risk right alongside their hearts.

The future of the human and fae realms hangs in the balance as fates intertwine. Between perilous tasks, grim secrets, and forbidden romances, Jasalyn and Felicity find that perhaps their stars are the most cursed of all.

Great addition to the These Hollwed Vows duology

4.5⭐️s. Really enjoyed Jasalyn’s story and the addition of Felicity. This has a Prince and the Pauper vibe which worked well. I saw a lot of recommendations to read These Hollowed Vows and These Twisted Bonds first. I do agree with that. It helped considering those have more world building.

While Jas is struggling greatly with the ptsd after Mordeus’s torture, she is on a mission to kill anyone who had any dealings with him. But what will happen when rumors stir that Mordeus is alive. Felicity too has a goal, but this one is to save her brother and remain hidden. When her brother kidnaps Jas, Felicity agrees to take her place since she has the ability to take on someone else’s appearance. Jas is surprisingly okay with this. Well, not super surprising because she feels utterly smothered and unable to let her sister and others in that just want to help. Will Felicity be able to hide the truth from Misha? Can Jas trust Kirkwood and still hide her goal for revenge?

Nigel has my heart!!!❤️😭 So much betrayal, healing, magic, romance, and wonderful adventure.

I binge the audiobook because I’m a little crazy. Amazing narration by @singlewithfries @katharinechinactor and @jamesfouhey (hopefully more narration from Misha in book 2)

Thank you so much to @netgalley @harpercollins and @writerlexiryan for the advanced reader copy.

Half a book

This leaves about 100 unanswered questions.
I wouldn’t listen until the next book comes out.

Way too much of a cliff hanger.

An intriguing and romantic one

Really enjoyed the story, with two heroines trying to avoid their destiny, and definitely not fall in love in the process. I am ready for all the secrets to be developed in book two…

Binge-worthy listen

Great story and decent narrator for the most part. my only complaint is how slow the Felicity parts were compared to Jasalyn's. I had to keep switching from 1.15x to 1.35 speeds to keep it sounding consistent.

overall plot is fantastic

I love the series this is apart of, the background is detailed and narrator is absolutely wonderful. If you want truly realistic characters that you will love and want to reach through the book and slap, this is your book. No spoiler but the only thing that pisses me off was when the main princess keeps getting taken advantage of by her supposed friends that are constantly expecting the truth a d then blatantly using her. That kind of crap among people pisses me off, but as for how it goes into the overall story, it's necessary. No spice in this book, lots of anticipation though. And lots of men being young and dumb about how they handle the women they love. Still great book and told from two points of view, so trust me while one point of view might piss you off, the other makes up for it.
