Publisher's summary

You can't run from yourself.

When one man can’t reconcile with the wolf inside of him, he knows all he can do is run. Take the wolf with him, and run away from those he doesn’t want to hurt. But will that be his greatest mistake?

The pack is coming together, but one wolf would rather be alone with his demons than be united as a team. In the second installment in the Olento Research series, Connor runs from the Lucidite Institute and his pack, fearful of what the wolf will make him do.

All of the men describe feeling the impulses, the desires that are unquenchable, coursing through them. But Connor knows he has a lesser chance of resisting those impulses due to his background, and after what he almost did to Adelaide, he can’t risks it happening again.

However, Mika hasn’t given up, and he’s more driven to retrieve the werewolves he knows belong to him. He plants a mole in the Institute and then goes to work creating a werewolf meant to catch other werewolves.

One that is stronger, faster, and bigger than those in the original pack.

Meanwhile Zephyr is quickly following leads and tracking down members of the pack, but will he be one step behind Olento Research? Can he rescue his team and stop Olento Research before they capture their would-be assassins?

A lone wolf is darker and more grueling than its predecessor. However, it’s also a story about characters who are so beautiful with all their many flaws. It’s a story about how the very best intentions can still lead to the worst scenarios. When one intends not to hurt another, they may find that’s exactly what they’ve done.

Second Book is Even More Exciting

Want a paranormal series that is not the norm?
For a story that develops the characters, a detail-rich world of epic proportions and a paranormal adventure that is sexy and hot without being all about chest beating/baring... this is the book for you! This book really takes you on an exciting ride! The second book of a series often has a difficult time transitioning but the author knocks it out of the park. The ride is fast paced and as always the characters are developing and finagling their way into the reader's heart. And Mika....is such a bad guy...but it's so hard for me because so many of the things he says have a tiny grain of truth in them. Such insidious behavior while being overtly evil at the same time. A conundrum!

Lone Wolf

Okay, why do the loyal readers of Ms. Noffke's books keep putting ourselves through this torture? Because, even though we know we will probably cry, rant & rave, throw our Kindles through a window or whatever, we still love her writing!

Dream travelers? Check. Werewolves? Check. Loads of snark? Check. Angst abounding? Check. Evil scientists who want to rule the world? Check.

And, of course, Ms. Noffke brings to life characters that we come to empathize with, care about, maybe even love, then she kills them off! This book is a wonderful follow-up to the first book and really gives life to the characters introduced there. I seem to be drawn to the characters with the biggest problems and found myself pulling for Conner and Adelaide in this one.

I enjoyed the way that the author gave her characters real life problems such as drug abuse, mental illness, and dealing with sexual preferences. These subjects were handled in a very empathetic way and I found myself close to tears at times.

I like the way that Ms. Noffke ties this series into her other equally amazing series. Her loyal fans will see the references, but the new reader won't be put off by them. They only enhance the reader's experience if they are longtime readers of her books.

The narrator, Elizabeth Klett, does a great job and adds a lot to the listener's enjoyment of the book. Even though I had previously read this as an ebook, her performance made it seem like it was a new experience.

Every series that I have read by Ms. Noffke has been amazingly awesome & this series (so far) is great! I look forward to reading the next books in this series and know that they will be wonderful as well.

Brilliant second audiobook in the series

This is a brilliant second audiobook in the Genetically Altered series and the narrator once again does an excellent job. Ashamed of attacking Adelaide, Conner has run from the Lucidites and taken up his old habits to mask the guilt he feels. With Mika continuing to evolve new twists on humanity, it's an even more perilous race as to who will find Conner and the remaining wolves first, the Pack or Olento Research. This fast paced story has lots of suspense, intrigue, action, humour, loss and hints of romance, the narrator dose a great job of making the listener feel the emotions in this story. We see both the brutality and the underlying humanity of the werewolves and your heart aches for them, but you also see the beginnings of acceptance and hope. Noffke's characters have depth; they have emotions, flaws, self doubts and longings that feel real and you become even more attached to them with each chapter. In this book you can not help but love the sarcastic repartee, the captivating characters and a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you craving for more.

great follow-up to Made to Kill

I enjoyed this story and the narration. The real-life problems make the characters more dynamic, real and relateable. I laughed, I cried and I didn't want the story to end.

Great story

I just love this story. The characters feel so real and alive. the main agent continues to work on the werewolf case hoping to solve the issue. the story has plenty of intense action, mystery and drama to keep the listener going. I am not a hug fan of the f word but the story wouldn't work without it. Otherwise I highly recommend it.

I recieved a free copy with the hopes of posting an honest review, which I Have. I absolutely love her books.
