About this listen

Giovanni Pietro D’Angelo is a highly respected silk merchant who wants nothing more than to see his seven daughters married off. For Bianca, his beautiful eldest daughter, his sights are set on Giuliano Rovere, a famous member of the lawyer’s guild. Though Giuliano has a dark history with women, the Pietro D’Angelos have too much to gain from the pairing and turn a blind eye to his past deeds. Once married, Bianca discovers the true nature of her husband, and is sent seaside to recover. There, she meets Prince Sabih al Saqr, a Turkish wool merchant who has the power to heal her wounds. But can she open herself up to the prince without breaking her marriage vows?

Beatrice Small !

I have ALWAYS loved this author. I started reading her Skye O'Malley series in the 80s and I discovered I really enjoyed this genre.

This is a great read for all of us hopeless romantics at heart 💖

Romance, Romance, Romance.....

Gosh I love Bertrice Small and her writing. I wish more of her books were available on audio.
This is the first in the series of The Silk Merchants Daughters. The story has family trials and tribulations in abundance. A big mistake which works out in a huge way. I don't want to spoil the story. It's an intriguing one with a Turkish twist. I have to tell you this story turned out nothing like I had envisioned... it was better though..lol
I am looking forward to the stories for the other daughters... it will be interesting to see what happens with the sons in these books.

Excellent Book!

What did you love best about Bianca?

Bianca is an excellent strong woman that reminds me of Skye O'Malley. Her character is one that provokes admiration as she progresses through her life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bianca?

Bianca's strength in dealing with her first husband's cruelty is one that is admirable. She was able to escape him by keeping her wits and not folding as a weaker woman would have done.

Which scene was your favorite?

The ending. I won't spoil it.

Kinda rapey.

The assault and rape scenes go on too long. Uncomfortable because the author writes these scenes to be titillating. It takes me out of the story. Narrator is great! Story is solid. It just doesn’t need to be torture to get the point across.

Good but no Skye

I bought this hoping it would be as good as the Skye saga. It’s good but not as good. Still waiting for the Skye O’Mally saga.

Amazing book

This book is STEAMY! Love it! I do wish the narrators voice was less 60 year old smoker and more young mid-teenager sounding.

Bland and poorly read

Beartrice Small has many great books. This is not one of them. The plot is overly simplistic. Small's writing has simplified to the point of seeming dull and boring. The woman reading this book makes everything dull and stilted. Maybe a better reader would've presented the story better. Small has also degraded in her language. Perhaps trying to fit in with the newer generation of romance writers that use rather crude language.

Can't miss with Bertrice Small books

Jill Tanner does one heck of a job.
Loved BS books from the start and she never disappointed me.
This series may not be as perfect as Sky O'Malley but is a great second best!.
