About this listen
Billy Graham Was the World’s Best-Known Evangelist - Loved and Admired by Millions. But Very Few Knew Him Personally.
Pastor and bestselling author Greg Laurie was one of those fortunate few, blessed with an insider’s view of Billy Graham’s world for more than two decades.
With the same painstaking research and eye for detail that distinguishes his previous biographies, Steve McQueen: Salvation of an American Icon and Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon, Laurie now turns to the life of his beloved mentor, offering the intimate perspective of a disciple and friend.
As a strapping North Carolina farm boy, Graham surrendered his life to Jesus at a camp meeting led by a blustery itinerant preacher, but he never lost the mischievous twinkle in his eye or his fun-loving air.
Laurie sheds light on Graham’s lesser-known struggles - such as a broken heart before he met the love of his life and a crisis of faith from which he emerged stronger than ever. From the evangelist’s private challenges and public successes to his disappointments and joys, Billy Graham: The Man I Knew provides a vivid portrait of one of history’s most remarkable Christian lives.

Author Greg Laurie traces the lives of rock stars and entertainment figures and legends who wallowed in the decadence of both the high life and low life, as they alternately experienced Heaven and Hell on Earth. He travels with them into their demonic abysses and joyfully chronicles their ultimate ascension to their prodigal moments.

Story
Life is fragile. But hope in Christ lasts forever. We tend to go about our day to day routines imagining this earthly existence of ours will just go on and on. But it won’t. Our stay on earth is really very brief. And when a loved one unexpectedly steps out of this life into eternity, it shakes us to the core. We ask ourselves: Is heaven real? Will I see him–will I see her–again? Will we be together again? How can I know for sure?

The greatest promise ever given to the human race came from the lips of our Redeemer when Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me...I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:1-3). Just after his 95th birthday, Mr. Graham proclaimed with resolve, "When I die, tell others that I've gone to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - that's where I am."

Story
Scripture is filled with examples of men and women whom God used late in life, often with great impact—Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elizabeth, and Anna, to name a few. They were ordinary men and women who discovered that the latter years of life can be some of the most rewarding and fulfilling. “For them, growing older wasn’t something to be denied or dreaded;” says Billy Graham, “it was to be embraced as part of God’s plan for their lives.” Billy Graham’s life and ministry have been dedicated to the here and now but always with a happy-ever-after in view.

We watch as families navigate the many seasons of life. Our guiding example for them all is the deepest, most abiding, foundational love ever known: God’s unconditional love for His people. In The Love Stories of the Bible Speak, Shannon Bream draws lessons from the good, the bad, and the ugly of Biblical romances, friendships, and families.

Through painstaking research and a writer's creative mind, Mesu Andrews weaves an emotional and stirring account of this well-known story told through the eyes of the women who loved him.

Very well done
The lay out, the information, and the performance made this a book that I couldn't put down. I came away from this with a very humble heart and a deeper love to serve with our King Jesus. I only knew of Billy Graham by name, now I felt like I unerstand hI'm more, and how he walked a exlempentry life that shows us today how to walk. Thank you Greg Laurie for writing a book we so much need for today.

Informative, inspirational and well worth the time.
Made me think of how God will use a man yielding to Him and believing and holding to the truth.
And how important it is to pray that The Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into the harvest.
Praise God for the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ whose death and resurrection has provided eternal hope for all will put there trust in his finished work. An inspiring witness of what God can do!

Excellent story about a man of God
I highly recommend. It’s an encouraging story about a man devoted to Jesus and a love for sharing His message.

I Was Spellbound
My father was on the crusade committee when Billy Graham came to Lexington Kentucky in 1971. I have been at a crusade. I have listened to hundreds of his sermons. This book was amazing. The author is himself a famous evangelist. At first I resisted Laurie's insertion of himself into the book, but then I recalled the full title of the book ("Billy Graham:
the Man I Knew") and then Laurie's personal anecdotes rang true and were enjoyed.
Anyone who was touched by the ministry of Billy Graham should read (listen to) this book!

Good history of Billy Graham
Laurie did a good job of chronicling the life of America's foremost evangelist.
My only real issue with the author was that he seemed to tout his own accomplishments along the way.

Walk thru history with one who was part of it
Billy Graham played an integral role in history, not only in the spiritual world but also the secular and political world. This book takes you on a journey through his extraordinary life revealing the impact this "country preacher" made on those he came in contact with either directly or through his crusades.
You will leave this one with a much better understanding of the man Billy Graham was. You will be surprised and amazed and you will be glad you decided to take a trip through history inside this book.
