About this listen

Binti has returned to her home planet, believing that the violence of the Meduse has been left behind. Unfortunately, although her people are peaceful on the whole, the same cannot be said for the Khoush, who fan the flames of their ancient rivalry with the Meduse.

Far from her village when the conflicts start, Binti hurries home, but anger and resentment have already claimed the lives of many close to her. Once again it is up to Binti, and her intriguing new friend Mwinyi, to intervene - though the elders of her people do not entirely trust her motives - and try to prevent a war that could wipe out her people once and for all.

Best Series Hands Down

I listened to all 3 of the stories in the Binti series and I was enthralled from beginning of Book 1 to the end of Book 3. I didn't want any of it to end. The story, the narration, the characters... everything was perfection. I felt like I was traveling through space and time with Binti. Well done. Well done.

Great series with one complaint

I've listened to all 3 books of the trilogy and I recommend it because it's mostly good. I like most of the story and the ending surprised me.

My pet peeve is the point that Binti smokes a cigarette. She is 17 at that point, and living in the future. Will there really be cigarettes then? Will teenagers have access to them? Probably not. I'm nitpicking, I know, but if the author took out the part with smoking the books would lose nothing whatsoever.

This was a new author for me and I would be interested in more of her books; I'm always looking for literature from around the world. I loved the narration as well.

A Seriously Fantastic Trilogy

I have nothing but praise for all of Okorafor's books. Binti got me back into reading after a really long break and I can't recommend it enough!

Great cultural interactions

This series of 3 short novels is a lovely introduction to being open to other cultures than our own, what we could tolerate and learn from and grow from if we only observe and stop being so tribal. This is great for any age reader.

A Journey Inward

The Binti series tells the story of an amazing journey that starts with Binti moving farther away from her home than ever before. The outward journey of the first book is wonderfully foiled in this finale that has Binti reflecting inwardly on who and what she is, as well as her place in the cosmos. From outer space to molecular structure Nnedi Okorafor beautifully navigates the reader through Binti's search for purpose and meaning--a story greatly enhanced by Robin Miles's more than capable narration.

My thoughts on Benti

I liked the journey but thought her lack of rage when she thought her family had perished was off.

magnificent

I discovered Okorafor doing a search for authors like Octavia Butler. I tore through this trilogy, on the edge of my seat. The imagery was beautiful, the story was delicately told, taking me through a range of emotions. And the performance was stellar. I will look for her again. Can't wait to get into Okorafor's next series.

Didn't Want It To End

This really was a great book. I was so drawn in and invested in the characters. I went threw thr 1st two books in no time. it has everything, suspense, action, mystery, a budding romance. it even attempted colorism. I'm looking forward to seeing how the author discusses and deals with this topic and hope it not in the old stereotypical way which would be greatly disappointing. Over all I recommend this book and would love to use it as a discussion topic. The Narrator was phenomenal and I'll definitely look for more books narrated by her 😊.
