About this listen

Polly Parrett meets Polly parrot. Together, can they solve a murder mystery? Things just don't always go the right way for pet-sitter, Polly Parrett. Dogs and cats can be tough enough; now she finds herself having to cope with a moody macaw, a volatile new resident at her mother's halfway house for veterans, and oh yeah, a dead body. What's more, the parrot and Polly share the same name, which not only makes for a lot of confusion, but it just might be that the parrot is the smarter of the two.

Bird Brain: A Polly Parrett Pet-Sitter

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”

Another fun cozy pet sitter mystery. Polly and friends work to solve a murder. I love these short listens and when you toss in a bit of romance, all the better.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.

Delightful

I liked this book more than the previous one, which I liked as well. Two key characters with the same name of Polly Parrot - you either groan and go on or giggle with the absurdity. I giggled. This whole book was fun. I wouldn't mind a longer book but she does an excellent job packing in all the 'guts' in a short time.
The narrator was very good although I did listen at a slightly increased speed. Easy to discern between characters. The mystery was pretty good - a couple of unexpected twists especially impressive in such a short book.
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

a typical cozy mystery

What made the experience of listening to Bird Brain the most enjoyable?

The story itself was very interesting, the characters were very original, the reading was good, end the end was a surprise.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes,it did. When you think you solve the mystery and find the murder something happens and you have to rethink all your conclusions.

What about Jennifer Fournier’s performance did you like?

The reading was excellent, a little to slow sometimes ,but every character had its own special voice, the storytelling was fluently respecting the pauses.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.It's a short story, not complicated, there is a puzzle you need to resolve, but the author focuses on the characters and theyre feeling instead. You can here this book at one sitting.

A fun cozy!

I've listened to all the Polly Parrett books & this one is by far the best! There are a few different plot lines that end up intertwining at the end & kept me happily listening from start to finish in one sitting! I love the narration of Polly (she is so loveable) & also the addition of another "Polly" (the parrot), which was a cute touch! This book is the so enjoyable because the characters really feel developed & have multiple dimensions, so I was invested by the time I got to the suspenseful closing scene. Polly always seems to find herself in a bind, stumbling upon situations she shouldn't be in (which is what makes her so loveable)! I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest review. I am a cozy mystery enthusiast & if you are too then this is a light enjoyable listen you'd love!

Fun - Sweet - Lightweight - lots of animals

Any additional comments?

This cozy mystery was different than most I'd ever heard before, and the main character was a hoot. She's got the perfect boyfriend, a life surrounded by animals, and a knack for getting herself into trouble, and in the middle of a murder mystery. This story would be safe children to hear.... because there wasn't anything gruesome, or sexual, or unduly violent. My favorite scenes were anything with the TWIN dog trainers. I will listen to more of this series in the future - for a little, lighthearted reading with lots of animals.

Cute fun story.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Would have made Polly a stronger lead. I really enjoyed the story but was a little let down when Polly was so insecure about her looks. I can understand if this was a novel and we needed character development but for a short story it just didn't need it.

Which scene was your favorite?

Yes, I love that it was about animals and how it fit in with the mystery of the story.

Could you see Bird Brain being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Definitely a TV series. It would be good fun for the whole family.

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth a read if you are into short mystery book.

This series gets better with each installment

For a nice cozy, somewhat short listen, Bird Brain is great. I think this series is getting better as it goes along. I love the Newfoundland/Rott mix named Chester as he reminds me of my mastiff puppy (and cats) who listened with me. I also enjoyed Polly Parrot. This was fun

Jennifer Fournier's narration makes this a lot of fun. I enjoy listening to her and the combo of her and Liz Dodwell make this a great listen.

Patronizing

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”

This has to be one of the worst books I've ever read/listened to. The authors tone is extremely patronizing to the reader. The narrator frequently makes side comments to the reader as if we're all idiots. For example, twice in the book it was explained that VFW=Veterans of Foreign Wars. The author also found it necessary to explain who Larry, Curly, and Moe were.

This was the first and last book of the series that I will waste my time on. However, if I had considered going back to read the first two there would be no need now. The author completely summarizes the murder mystery climax that took place in one of the earlier books.

The main character is obnoxious and whiney and the reader didn't help much all. It felt as if I were being read to by my 3rd grade teacher (not in a good way).
