Publisher's summary

The world wants its soul back....

This audiobook is for highly sensitive people who have felt out of place in the modern world. It provides a narrative that describes how they fit into a lineage of creatives throughout history, and how their gifts are needed during this precise era of "new renaissance" on Earth.

In this book, author Jacob Nordby offers a bold new definition of success in the modern era. "The only success now is living and creating a work-of-art life: unique, rich with meaning, naked of anything we don't care about, and ruthless about carving out something absolutely real from a world that has gorged itself on fakeness and become critically ill from it. The only failure now is pulling back from that quest because of fear." Expanding upon his short original "Blessed Are the Weird" piece that became a viral phenomenon, he traces the roots of soulful artistry and creation to ancient times and back again to reveal the insistent, eternal quest of our true natures that demands something real - as if our very existence depends upon it.

This book is a call to creatives (and those who want to be) with the clear message that it has never been more critical to heed the call of soul than it is during this exciting, dangerous new renaissance epoch on Planet Earth. Heartfelt and sometimes humorous, it lights a signal fire for all who feel out of place in the modern world and invites them to claim their heritage as members in an ancient lineage - those tenders of soul and beauty who have always kept the flame alive for humanity.

This is a book for everyone who wants to lead a deep, true, and passionate life and leave the world better for having passed this way.

Blessed Are the Weird. Your time has come to define the new normal.

Blessed are we the weird!

Wow, it is like Jacob Nordby has reached into my soul and expressed for me many of the questions, ideas, and tribulations that I deal with on a regular basis. He has done so with such elegance and grace that it made this experience a life changing one that I will revisit time and time again. I feel less alone in this world and confident in the path I have been taking. I have always believed in myself and never let things get in my way, but have always been challenged by it as well. Now having this book in my arsenal I bare a new sword and shield. Thank you Jacob Nordby, your weird friend Leonard Mangano

Now...face to face with step two....

Nordby narrated his own work, so it was read well, and therefore; as the artist meant it to sound. Which I really like over some readings of someone else's blood, guts and soul being read with a mis-match of inflections. He had me from the lingering "born with a hole in my heart". Though mine stayed an extra 25 years before it closed up. From there he definitely describes a personality that fit me so well, I could finish his sentences before he did. It was pretty uncanny, and even a little emotional to hear another voyager's voice, their understanding, but more so; their insistence on not being defeated.
I would even like to know what one who does not fit this would think? Are we weirdos just as arrogant, in another way, and seemingly normal "status quo" folks suffer, too, only in silence?
Then there is the trouble with "step two" which few "self exploring" books even mean to answer; especially for women who love their families, who have commitments to family that just can't be handled with weekend visits. But so it is, our personal escape routes are more complicated.
Blessed Are The Weird, was communication with another person, in another tribe, that has the same lonely job as you, and reminds you just how important your job is, and why. And it is nice to know you don't have this job because your broken, but it serves, in many tribes and families down through the ages, as more than a court jester.

Should be given as a certification

Sometimes those of us growing-up outside the click of cool people wish we had a diploma which allowed us to be ourselves. Here’s a diploma for us. If you too grew into a spiritual journey seeker which costs more than it gives. There are excellent exceptions which gives value too. However, after treating this audiobook as a rare gem where each chapter was allowed to sink in, I ended up binging on the last 2.5 hours I could not stop. It was as if I got my soul truly fuel-filled. This manifesto is creating a new genre: spiritual development. Unlike self-development this book does not try to change or improve you because you are what and who you need to be.

Can't Recommend Enough!!

I've always seen a plaque of sorts in all the artsy shops I've been to with a page from this book. I finally got the book after seeing it in a pottery shop in Tennessee. I actually never realized it was a whole book I just enjoyed the readout I saw in art shops, museums, music shops and some coffee shops. I'm so glad I got this. This is for all those artists, writers singers, creators and dreamers! I once was one of those miserable creatures stuck in an office as a hotel manager for years from sales to AGM my off days were never off days and I felt trapped. Then the layoff happened because of the pandemic. That was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I had been wanting to quit for a long time because I was unhappy but I was loyal to my coworkers and couldn't just leave. I've been able to really dive into what makes me me and start to learn to express myself again slowly and do what I love and not what someone else loves. Mind you it's taken me almost a whole year to figure out that's what I've been doing by finding out what makes ME happy and not the world around me. I'm ADHD so I'm fast paced but being forced to slow down is what I needed and this book put so many feelings into words and 'OH I do that too!!' moments. This is such a beautiful book and I can't recommend it enough to all those weird ones that just never fit. You can blend in or mask if you will but when your alone you fall apart or exhausted from putting up a front like I was and I'm so sure many of you are or have been. Take that leap and do what makes your soul soar!! You were made the way you are for a reason, embrace it!

I unexpectedly related to so many experiences!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was just what I needed to hear. I heard the sample and new I wanted to listen to more. Nordby summed up the experiences of those who always felt different, wanted to make a difference and never connected to the masses directly yet had great empathy for everything. It's pointers on how to connect with yourself on a journey of purpose and self discovery. Let it open your eyes to great food for thought. Quick read. I will definitely be reading it again.
