About this listen

The 40th anniversary edition of the best-selling Tarot classic.

Rachel Pollack’s Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom inspired a whole generation of Tarot students. Often referred to as the "Bible of Tarot books", it is a landmark book that helped launch today’s Tarot renaissance. Drawing on mythology and esoteric traditions and delving deeply into the symbolism and ideas of each card, the book offers a modern psychological interpretation of the tarot archetypes rather than a system of esoteric symbolism.

Everyone should read Rachel’s book but with a grain of salt as it’s limited to its time and the perspective, I’m guessing, would have been less constrained had it been written today. The narrator however sounds like an AI voice and speaks in a weird fake and ingenuine overstudied vocal styled. Not a fan of hers.

Classic text w bit antiquated weird narrator

I'm dyslexic, so i often get books I really want to finish & understand in both a physical and audio copy. I did this here, and I have to say I'd rather highlight and read the physical. I also have ADHD though. so.

Better as a physical book

This was the first serious book on tarot I ever read. It changed my life. Rachel is also one of the kindest and most intelligent humans on the planet. Happy to be able to listen to this great classic on the go!

The Greatest Tarot book ever written.

I loved the way she read it, the speed of her voice, her broad and open perspective, and the way she talks about every different point of view but puts it together so we understand it as one. Truly incredible! On my second round listening.

The Way She Thinks

I enjoyed this book as a newcomer to the tarot. Rachel Pollack has done a wonderful job clearing a lot of questions I had in regards to the tarot. I love the included interview as a bonus from Audible even though it was a little tough to understand some words since she was using a regular phone and not a microphone. Highly recommend to all beginners of tarot. I can't speak for the others who have experience, but I'm sure some insights shared may be of benefit as it isn't only intended for beginner minds. Although that's a great trait to live by when it comes to learning.

Definitely a "pick me up"

this book has me wanting to go back and look at the work of William Blake, more closely, as well as see what I can learn from Gustave Moreau

I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot. It was not what I was expecting at all.

This is one of the most important books I’ve ever read. Valuable for any student of life, not just of Tarot. I am certain I will read it over and over. As for the narration – I wasn’t sure at first. And I understand why some people are not fans. But then Coleen Marlo clicked with me and I wish the other Rachel pollack tarot were also narrated by her. She is distinct and one of a kind, just like Rachel pollack. Marlo infuses this essential book with her care and professionalism and beauty. I’m really picky about narrators and I’m definitely going to be poking around to see what books I want to read just so I can listen to more Coleen Marlo.

Essential book, phenomenal narration

I was lost by Crowley and similar writers, no matter how patient I studied them. Rachel Pollack's 78 Degrees of Wisdom gave me the grasp I was looking for. Follow up with Jung and Tarot by Sallie Nichols.
Then Mary K Greer and maybe Joan Bunning
The Audible book allows one to review any card quickly even in the middle of a reading, too.
