Through personal darkness, two strangers find their way to each other.
Leah Schaeffer has come a long way since an accident took her sight. She's finally ready for independence, but convincing her wealthy parents she'll be safe on her own isn't easy. The first night in her own place at last, she encounters her neighbor with the midnight velvet voice and her world shifts again.
Since finishing a military tour, J.D. Wyatt has struggled both financially and emotionally. When Leah's parents hire him to act as her bodyguard, he seizes the opportunity. The catch - she can't know she's being followed. As he grows closer to the intriguing woman and begins to have feelings for her, the burden of this secret grows heavier. Although Leah and J.D. have suffered different types of trauma, their mutual understanding of each other's pain bonds them. But their relationship, dependent on absolute trust, is rooted in lies which will detonate like an IED when exposed.

The back story... The H was blinded during a traffic accident a couple of years earlier and has decided that, at the age off 22, is ready to live on her own. After some back and forth, her parents relent with a few conditions and she moves out. She then meets the neighbor across the hall and falls for his voice and demeanor. Unknown to her, the H has been hired by her parents to discretely keep an eye on her and keep her safe.
Romance or Gist: It starts out as pure lust between the two but issues in both of their lives get in the way.
The drama explosion... The h finds out that the H was hired to keep her safe and goes ballistic
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? See final notes.
Was it OTT? Extremely
Separation involved? A couple of weeks
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Ok
Final Notes... I had an extremely difficult time caring about the h. She was combative with her parents (yes they were overbearing but not in a bad way) and demanded perfection in everyone except herself. She gets upset with her professor for telling her not to limit herself. The reason she said it was because the h used her disability as a reason to drop the class instead of sticking with that she didn't like accounting. She was willing to throw the relationship away with the H when he told her that they had actually met a couple of weeks before she moved to her apartment. He should have told her earlier but it wasn't anything terrible as the meet was a couple of minutes. There is more but I just felt beaten down by the h for much of the story.
