About this listen

Vicki Nelson has received the call that no daughter ever wants to receive - that her mother has died. Marjory Nelson’s coworkers at the Queen’s University Life Science Department told her that she suffered a heart attack, and that they’d be waiting for Vicki to arrive in Kingston to make the funeral arrangements. But what begins as a personal tragedy turns into the most terrifying case of Vicki’s career, when her mother’s body disappears mysteriously from the funeral home. Someone at the University is determined to learn the secret of life after death… and they’ve decided to make Vicki’s mother part of their horrifying experiments.

Chpt 15 & 16 keep me coming back to the series

The last 2 chapters of this book connected me so wholly to these characters that I keep coming back to the series, as well as to the smoke series about Tony. Absolutely my most favorite and tear inducing portion of the world they inhabit!

Another excellent rendition!

I have previously read and enjoyed Tanya Huff’s Series with Henry Fitzroy, Mike Cellucci, Vickie Nelson, Tony - it’s equally amazing listening to their stories via Audible. Great work by the narrator! More, please..,

Great story-well read!

I previously read all of the "Blood" books by Tanya Huff and was very excited when I saw they had become available on Audible. I was rewarded with a fine performance of an excellent book.

Frankenstein revamped.

Private Investigator Vicki Nelson has problems. The two men in her life, Detective Sgt Michael Cellucci, and the 400 yr old vampire, Henry Fitzroy, have both suddenly started pushing her to make a commitment. She does not react well.

Then, her mother dies suddenly and the body is stolen from the funeral home. Understandably furious about this, Vicki has just dug into getting some answers when Vicki catches a glimpse of her dead mother outside her window, up and walking.

Apparently someone is raising the dead, but they are going to be very, very sorry that they involved Vicki's mom.

Justine Eyre does a fairly good job with the female voices, but her attempts at male voices grate on my nerves. I'd rather she didn't even try to do voices than 'fake gruff'.
