Publisher's summary

I've always had a weak spot for strange ladies. One very beautiful girl had even warned me that she was, get this, a vampire. But did I listen? No.

Before you know it, I'm being chased by an ugly thug with a gun, and a bullet blasts its way through my back, and, believe it or not, nothing happened. I survived! How? You guessed it. I, Jack Fleming, ace reporter, have been transformed into a vampire, which has its advantages. You never die, you never grow old, you sleep all day, and, best of all, you can hunt down your own murderer.

Bloodlist is the first novel in an exciting vampire adventure series.

A New Look at Vampires

This is a wonderful book, a completely different take on vampires and mysteries. I highly recommend it.

The List!

Johnathan Russell Flemming 1820-1908. Maureen was his master. Escott was his human Renfield. Flemming was such a boy scout. He was so paranoid about water, it had to be mental since vampires don’t breathe and couldn’t drown. Since Flemming was new to the vampire scene, I can cut him some slack for not knowing what he was capable of. The entire first part of the series is all about a list that several Chicago mobsters wanted. It’s a unique twist on the vampire genre although a little long-winded. I did like the story all-in-all.

Slow to start but ok in the end

The story took a while to grab me, just when I began to get interested in what would happen next... it was over.
On the positive side I would have gone right into book 2 because had now grown to enjoy the characters & I was interested in the next adventure.

Kind of Like the Shadow..

This is a good read. It is a fast paced action filled series. It is a bit thin on explanations of the vampire world, but hey, it works.

This is basically the novel equivalent of an old radio serial (much like the shadow). The only supernatural element in this book is the fact that the main character is a vamire. Everyone and everything else is plain old vanilla human. Really, you could just have easily removed the vampire element and this would be a very good pulp-style mystery.

Much like in a pulp novel the charchters are a bit on thin thin side, mainly just sterotypes. The thing that makes the books work is the author does a great job of presenting the emotional elements in this book. There is a lot of violence, but none of it is glamorized and is shown in all its brutality. The main character is powerful, but balanced by inexperience and naiveté.

There is a romance element to the novel, but it does not dominate the story. This is a vampire book with a romance involved not a romance novel that happens to contain vampires. That is a major distinction in my book. While a bit stereotypical in places this is a fun read and well worth a listen. It kind of makes me wish someone would write a full-length Shadow novel though.

Pretty good

It started off kind of slow. But I stuck to it and ended up enjoying it. The reader was a little monotone but I ended up enjoying him too. It’s different kind of vampire story.

Sam Spade meets Dracula & Mr Holmes

What a fantastic series I have read the first three on my own I wish that audible would get the whole series, really original and keeps you on the edge. Yes you must stretch your imagination but don't you have to do that with most fiction. More Of this series PLEASE
