Blood and Soil is an LGBTQ+ romantic murder mystery set in mid-century America. The only things that city boy Tony and Jake from the backwoods seem to share are their mutual attraction and bone-bred biases against each other. They meet in August 1960 in the Highlands north of New York, where three groups warily coexist: wealthy summer colonists from the city, a struggling German old guard, and a mixed-race tribe with ancient ties to the mountains.
Two explosive deaths on Jake’s mountain and a cover-up by the county sheriff, a demagogue and white supremacist, ensnare Tony and Jake in the long-simmering animus between whites and mountain people. The two men are forced to confront their own intolerance and the Highlands' Nazi past to save their bond and their very lives.
