About this listen

When miserly millionaire Barnaby Galen is found dead in his dilapidated mansion, two corpses are on the scene - the murder victim and the murder weapon. Staring into the skeleton face of a horror prop called Granny, Galen dies of fright, leaving only enemies and suspects behind. With echoes of Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, Blue Christmas is a witty, heartfelt romantic mystery that will make fans of Emma Jameson's best-selling series want to stand up and cheer.

Charming

As usual with this series, I find the characters charming. And this is particularly happy.

Well done!

procedural, PTSD, flashbacks, support-system, surprises, suspense, British-detective, family, family-dynamics, friendship, class-consciousness, laugh-riot, law-enforcement, London, lol-humor, mental-health-issues, murder, murder-investigation, consultant, wealthy, situational-humor, verbal-humor*****

What a busy book! Kate and "The Gov" are mostly healed from the physical horrors they suffered on an earlier case, Pol Bahr has been promoted and nudges Kate to come back to London (with Tony as consultant) to work this new case with him while the rest of Kate's family are still lodged in the countryside this week before Christmas. The case itself is weirder than most and the team have a lot of work to do. Meanwhile, Kate is having PTSD issues, Pol is trapped between his "smother" and changes in his private life, and there are a whole lot of surprises.
This series is a whole lot of fun and laughs that make a mockery of reality. Love it!
I really appreciate the talents of voice actor Matthew Lloyd Davies to help me with easy differentiation of so many characters in the audio, and he always underplays the scenes!

Loved It

I really like this series & somehow fell behind. So this weekend I did a marathon listen to the last 3 books. With what went on in book 4 I'm glad I had book 5 to read immediately. There were times the conversation went a bit fast & I found it hard to understand what I was hearing. I didn't think to slow down the speech, but I did listen several times. I enjoyed this book so much & found it uplifting about Tony & Kate's Christmas present to a family & a surprise diagnosis. Can't wait for Book 6.

OUTSTANDING!

I have read all of the books in this series and I love each one of them! Matthew Lloyd Davies' narration just caps the stories off! PLEASE keep up the great teamwork, Emma and Matthew! Can't wait for the next installment!

Good story

This was the first novel of this series that I have listened to and I will go back to the first and read it next. The only negative was women’s voices were pretty bad. The male voices were fine.
