About this listen

The New York Times best-selling series.

In London's fashionable Chelsea, a Halloween bash goes terribly wrong. Emmeline Wardle, daughter of a frozen-foods baron, throws a party that results in the demise of two university schoolmates. Handsome golden boy Trevor Parsons is dead. So is pasty computer nerd Clive French. Both died on the Wardle estate within minutes of one another, and both died the same way - an axe to the skull. Given the social connections of all involved, New Scotland Yard sends a real baron to investigate: Chief Superintendent Anthony Hetheridge, also known as Lord Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave.

This time around, Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield and her partner, Detective Sergeant Deepal "Paul" Bhar, have their work cut out. Bhar must contend with Emmeline Wardle, a spoiled blonde with a penchant for the finer things, including a certain illegal white powder. Kate must decide if Kyla Sloane, model-pretty and delicate, is being truthful about the events of that fateful night and if Kyla's connection to a former lover of Bhar's means nothing - or everything.

Return to the world of Ice Blue in Blue Murder, the second of the Lord & Lady Hetheridge series. In addition to solving the double murder in Chelsea, Anthony Hetheridge plans on proposing marriage to Kate for the second time. He has the ring. Now all he needs is the proper moment....

Love this Series

This is the second book in the series and I loved it. Highly recommend it to all mystery lovers, especially those who love those set in Britain.

Drew me totally in.

My sister recommended the first book on this series to me. Normally we have different tastes in reading but I decided to try it. I now own the entire series. The characters are well developed. The plot from one book to the next are not cookie cutter like do many other series are today. The English have their own brand of humor, and these books do not disappoint. This series is like a vacation in the middle of all my other reading. If you like English dry humor, plays, a good who-done-it and a series where the series builds from one book to the next, but each book can stand alone, then this one is for you.

Another murder mystery with a romance thrown in

okay, things are hotting up between Superintendent Hetheridge and Set Sergeant Wendy Wakefield, and their work colleagues seem to smell a good bit of gossip, although the two are trying to keep things on the down low.
However, police business, that of solving two murders keeps everyone's brains engaged in finding clues, and finding the perpetrator of these two really gruesome murders.
This is turning into a very intriguing series.

Good read!

British-detective, British-humor, London, class-consciousness, mental-illness, mental-health-issues, family-dynamics, friction, friendship, procedural, romance, laugh-riot, law-enforcement*****

This is a great twofer! The intricate procedural concerning the bizarre murders of two college students at a drugs/alcohol party in a posh neighborhood (including some dodgy history of DS Bhar) is very well done. The romancing of thirty something DS Kate (and her semi functional family) by just-turned-sixty Chief Superintendent (Baron) Hetheridge is another good one. And it's all tied together by a great sense of humour that had me guffawing at many intervals!
I really appreciate the talents of voice actor Matthew Lloyd Davies to help me with easy differentiation of characters in the audio, and he always underplays the scenes!

wonderful!

This is my new favorite mystery series. The plots are well-done, and the characters make this story shine. Lots of snappy dialog, eccentric English people and institutions, and well-constructed mysteries are the hallmarks of this series, and I loved this entry. It's laugh out loud funny in places, but it's not afraid to go dark. The characters are growing and changing, which is very interesting to watch. I give this a solid 5 stars in every category, with a special mention to the new narrator...he's amazingly good, and has lifted this audio book into the 'stellar' category! }

A Delightful Crimesolving Team

Any additional comments?

The mystery kept me guessing until close to the end and the story between the older detective and his firebrand sergeant is an interesting development. I find the sergeant really amusing and likable. I was listening with headphones while I moved around the house and my spouse kept interrupting me to ask why I was chucking. I have already downloaded the third book for later this weekend!

Huge disservice to Kate

I absolutely will not buy another of these. Love the book love the story but the narrator totally screws up Kates character. The book is very clear that her east and accent only comes out if she's stressed or if she wants it too. He portrays her as if she say urchin right out of Oliver or one of the Baker Street irregulars. The way he portrays her there is no way Tony would fall for her. I'll stick to the written version I'm so disappointed in this Audible version
