About this listen

Jill Ellington's twin sister hasn't spoken a word since she allegedly murdered her husband, and her three-year-old son is missing. No one in the small, idyllic town of Paradise saw or heard a single thing. The chief of police already has Jill's twin convicted and her nephew dead and buried. Jill is going to need a miracle to uncover the truth.

Dr. Paul Phillips has a gift or a curse, depending upon how sober he is when asked. He agrees to review Jill's case to settle an old debt, but after five minutes in Paradise, he knows he has made a monumental mistake. This is the kind of case that broke him once before, and he has no desire to go down that dark path again. But there's something about Jill Ellington that won't let him walk away.

As they unravel a web of shocking lies that go back three generations, they uncover bone-deep secrets that will rock the town of Paradise - if they can survive long enough to tell.

Really enjoyed it!

I loved this book and hope more people will give it a try. Creepy plot that is plausible, sadly. Narration was good as well.

Interesting plot and fast moving

I liked the way Webb moved the story forward without bogging down with lots of unnecessary background and details. A good solid, fast paced narrative with interesting characters.

Bone Deep

Interesting story.
BUT…..narrator should be fired! In the first several chapters Agoraphobia was pronounced AGROphobia instead of AGOROphobia. Chapter 4 or so she started pronouncing it correctly. A few more chapters later, she reverted to mispronouncing it again. It really distracted from the story. Also, she gave several of the characters really strange voices…almost robotic.
Seriously???? Do your homework!

The Interesting Story Line

The reader was just not good…the central female character’s voice & inflection was very childlike.

Interesting story concept

This was an interesting story. Part romance, mystery, thriller, action, and a little Sci-fi / paranormal thrown in. Interesting characters and plot. Tragic happenings in a small town with a similarity to some of the experiments Hitler did. Sometimes it was a little tough to follow and I had to listen to sections more than once to understand what was going on. The ending seemed a little rushed in comparison to the flow of the rest of the story. But an interesting read.

Twisted. Narration Was Just OK

I am not sure what my expectations were for this book, but it was not what I expected.

I found the plot to be intriguing. I did have an issue with so much being done without the participants knowledge. But, if the knowledge existed, then it wouldn't have been much of a mystery. Also, the behaviour would not have come across as sinister as it did.

I understood the situation with Kate and Jill. I wasn't sure about Cody. Could Kate have given birth to Cody and Cody not be a Kate? Or did Kate really give birth to Cody?

I also was surprised how quickly Paul fell for Jill. Strangely enough he was able to curb his alcoholism, if not overcome it, just by deciding he had to protect Jill.

This was a book that made you wonder, "what's Truth or factual and what isn't?"

The narration was ok. It didn't add much to the story.
