This book helps to fill out the legend and the reality of the man beyond the Fess Parker image I grew up on.

Very Revealing.

Good book but I’m my opinion it could have used some more editing. It began to drag as it repetitively went on about Boone’s money problems and lack of properly registering deeds.

I loved listening to this audiobook first thing in the morning. It’s a nice slow way to start your day. Very detailed. Captures the perceptions and ways of thinking from 100s of years ago!!! Which is awesome. Well worth taking the time to learn how life was lived for people before us. Will give you a new respect for a lot of people.

A rustic detailed trip back in time

The author places Boone in the greater context of the huge upheaval that was going on in the 18th century American colonies and early republic. It makes for a compelling portrayal but the writing style is often too florid and grandiose for a historical account. Well worth the 20 hours of listening though.

Fascinating story!

I was expecting a story about Daniel Boone and the lore surrounding him. What I got was a lot more. I learned about the frontier as it was during the settler era

One of my favorite books

Would you listen to Boone again? Why?

Yes, because I am a history buff and this book was long and detailed.

What does James Jenner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Convenience. This book was long and I would not have spent the time to read it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Worth the Price

I grew up hearing stories about the early frontier, and Daniel Boone's place in it. This book tied it all together. It provides a greater understanding of the exploration and settlement, the dangers and the joys, the solitude and the families of the people who came before us.

EXCEPTIONAL RENDERING OF THE LIFE OF DANIEL BOONE
