Publisher's summary

Imagine being shot, thrown into a pool, and left for dead. But by some miracle, you survive - only to be tormented by visions of young women being murdered.... When Suzanne Cash’s dead fiancé, Jack, appears during her near-death experience, she credits him for saving her life. But when he keeps reappearing, hijacking her sanity, and insisting she revisit her past, she questions his motives.

Why would he lead her into the lair of a serial killer? And what is his connection to the victims? Detective Sam Metzger wants answers, even if it means suspending his disbelief about things unknown. As the body count rises, Suzanne’s visions become more frequent and Goldorado’s Sheriff’s Department is on the hook.

Sam knows the clock is ticking, and although Jack is determined to help Suzanne understand her nefarious visions, lifting the veil to the other side is out of his control. After all, in the universal law of cause and effect, destiny must prevail.

****Wow. What a page-turning, chilling experience!

What starts out with a charming woman, proud of herself for her newly acquired fitness goal, quickly—and alarmingly––turns into a serial killing murder mystery, infused with a high level of ghostly mysticism. Besides the prologue’s murder, we are introduced to Suzanne, who becomes another victim, yet survives her ordeal. In the hospital, her recovery brings on something unexpected: suddenly, she can visualize various deaths by an unknown serial killer. And to top it off, these images are introduced by the love-of-her-life-boyfriend, Jack, who had died years before in military combat. As more and more flashbacks and visions flourish, Jack leads her on to other murders that are about to occur or have already happened, all seemingly performed by one killer––who uses orange twine to entangle his victims.

No one believes Suzanne’s unusual foresights, except for Sam, the detective assigned to her case, and once she’s recovered, together they become a team (with hints of romance). Psychics are brought in to help clarify the legitimacy of Suzanne’s claims as well as teach Sam how the unknown can sometimes be more than real. Besides that, as the book continues, we are increasingly aware of the killer’s mind. We learn just how messed up and abusive his childhood was; enough to have made him start his revenge sprees against countless young women years before. Then a major twist occurs and the need to solve these killings becomes that much more urgent. But can the killer be stopped? I really got into this book with its fine narration by Terry Shepherd. I had it going pretty much nonstop, as I cooked, dusted, and walked outside. Therefore, I truly recommend this gripping story, which is tailor made for mystery lovers and police thriller enthusiasts. Excellent!
